Think he’s a bit over rated TBH, wasn’t he put in the naughty corner at Scunny by Hurst for having a bad attitude?

Don’t know who’s going to break the news to Adam Virgo. He’ll be a broken man when he finds out, with the National League losing its second most technical player.

Mind you, he should have predicted it from his horoscope the Aquarius tw@t.

Nah thanks. Friend of mine whose a season ticket holder at Notts says most of his goals where lucky and that he had attitude issues. No way is he worth 5k a week.

Who will Stockport be willing to let go - would we take Madden or Quigley?

Looking on various messenger boards I think they are planning to play Madden with Wooten and keep Quigley aswell as adding a 4th striker.

I guess it's getting to that time where all the big scorers end up with our league rivals and we say "oh well didn't want them anyway". I suppose if Hurst worked with him before and doesn't like him then he's not getting signed.

Only 25 still, so wouldn't of minded him.
Doesn't scream a top player for league 2 IMO tho, i'm sure Stockport will sign better players throughout the window

Meh. Is he even that special in the first place? All I can remember him doing in the play-off game was heading back across goal instead going for goal. 19 in the league isn't massively prolific considering he played all but 2 games.

Obviously a decent player but I don't think we were ever in for him in the first place, we're we? Certainly haven't seen it mentioned on here.

I’m more than happy that Paul Hurst recruits players in the mould that has delivered us 2 promotions in his last 2 full seasons with the club.

I'm even happier that Paul Hurst, within his last 4 full seasons at a club has got teams to within 90 minutes of promotion as a minimum.

Can't say at any point I've thought 'yeah, wouldn't mind him'.

This time last year (well, just over a year ago!), very few of us knew anything about John McAtee.  Look how that turned out.  Hurst does Hurst best when he pulls these signings out of nowhere.  It doesn't happen by accident, he spends hours and days pouring over games to build up his knowledge of what's out there.  He'll unearth a good couple of diamonds this summer, meanwhile we'll let Stockport, Salford et al. spend £6/7k a week on gambles.

Having spent mega money on the likes of Madden and Quigley, then the lad from Bolton mid-season, it was inevitable that Stockport would come into League Two spending big again.  But spending big in the Conference is one thing, you've then got to spend even bigger in League Two if you want to be up there again.

Is there a slight envy that they can spend that money?  Perhaps.  But genuinely pleased we've got the approach that we've got.

I’ll jump on the list of never really been impressed when I’ve seen Wootton either, but tbf he had a decent season numbers wise so good luck to him. Inclined to concur with the above post on our approach and others..for various reasons we can’t shell out on players, nor would we either when you have the manager in place we have. Couldn’t get better.

It a dangerous game, spending silly money, look were it got the likes Scunny, Bury, Derby etc, it always comes back to bite you.
I much prefer model of not over reaching our finances, chasing the dream.

There are different ways to skin a cat. I much prefer our method of quietly getting on with it by building a team full of hard workers with a respectable but not ridiculous budget.

Going forward, any significant transfer fee received goes into the club and that can be used for improving us further.

Grimsby Town are back and it feels great.
