Has just joined the Scunts.

Never really thought much to him when he was here around 5 years ago, looks like a Scunny signing though, should be able to scrape staying up with signings of that calibre

I think that a decent signing, puts a competent player between them and NLN

They are still going down

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I imagine that the limit of Scunny’s ambitions next season is to stay out of trouble, if at all possible. In that context he’s probably an alright signing, but ultimately almost 33 year old defenders from Eastleigh aren’t going to have you troubling the top half of the table.

I liked Boyce, thought he was a good competent NL centre half, but that was 6 years ago

Boyce was a mainstay in a side that conceded the fifth most goals in the Conference last year...

I never rated Boyce and was really disappointed when we signed him in L2. Even more surprised that so many of our fans seemed to rate him. This signing screams just trying to survive in NL next season.

He was a player who looked a better player due to his physique than he actually turned out to be. A big, strong lad who never bullied any striker that I can remember.

Boyce was steady enough for Town. But has been said that was 6 years ago.

He is an experienced NL defender which is something Scunny need. I suspect it will quite a young squad they will have. So from that point of view he may be ok.

But is he the sort of signing a team with ambitions of promotion would be making ?? Put it this way if Town had re-signed him last summer the hairs on the back of my neck most definately would not be standing up. He wouldnt have got anywhere near our team.

It's going to be a tough season for them.

Solid signing for them.
Not one that screams anything more than mid-table though

I'll follow with interest.
I remember our first time down in non-league

Hope they come back up, but after a good 2/3 years of torture

Signed for us 3 times, which puts him alongside Johnny Oster, Dean Sinclair and probably some others in a list which deserves a Wikipedia page.
