And we are on our way back! Check that out, Manchester Citys pretty cheap! Grimsby Town prices on par with Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea. Arsenal same prices to sit!

Think it was a bit later than 81 - maybe 85 or something but I used to have something called an AMS card (anyone remember those?) and it meant it was £1.20 to stand in the Ponny. 🙂

So once our season tickets cost almost double a season ticket for Man City. Amazing how much things change over time. Most of the time I'm just whinging that a Mars Bar and a can of Coke used to cost me under 50p and now that won't even buy you the Mars Bar.

When I was a student at Essex Uni I was paying £1.50 to watch the most entertaining club in the country-Ipswich Town. I also paid that to watch UEFA Cup football there. I hasten to add that my student grant was used to facilitate plenty of Grimsby home and away games! It was £1.20 in 1980-81 for the Pontoon if I remember correctly and we had a superb side at that time.

The article shows £4 to sit at Notts County.  Even this season that would be a waste of time when playing us twice at home.  Their fans would have been out of their seats shouting at their players for losing to us!

I suppose costs have increased dramatically over the years, despite inflation.  On the plus side, many clubs have new stadiums, grounds are safer, crowd control is better and TV coverage is far superior.  Not having only one match on MOTD.

We have been spoilt. 😏

It is not a lack of money that is the problem at the top of the game.  Too much money.  Not filtering down to grassroots ,which impacts supports the whole pyramid.
