In yesterday's programme notes the NL chief said that the format was first put to the EFL but rejected before being adopted in the NL. I agree with you, I think I prefer the NL format (although that view might have been "slightly" swayed by the events of the past couple of weeks...).

Is this a rare occurrence of the NL getting something right?
