There's been some discussion on social media about helping some supporters who can't afford tickets.  The Trust have published details of how to make a donation.

Grimsby Town Supporters Society
Sort Code 08-92-99
Acc No 65101258
Ref. FinDon

Obviously, not everyone can spare money to do this.  But thought I'd share for anyone who can.

Really nice gesture from those in the position to do this. Hopefully it gains the traction it deserves in the media and further highlights the greed of the idiots running this league (and football in general).

Got no chance of getting there. It’s the least I can do.

I’ve seen that someone has donated £100 on Facebook too

The Trust updated on Twitter that £3000 donated this afternoon already.   Well done to everyone who has contributed.  If that pays for 60 odd tickets, its probably more than Solihull brought to Blundell Park!

You shouldn't have to.  I'm lucky enough that I can afford to chip in but no-one else should feel they have to.

Funnily enough, I've been out walking this afternoon and was thinking along the same lines and was going to start a thread asking if people thought it was a good idea or not to start a fund of some kind.

Seems others have had the same idea and already acted on it, which is great.

Will make a donation to the cause.

We have great fans.

That’s amazing. That’s the best part of 200 tickets right there.  According to Debbie on Sportstalk earlier there are also a further 500 being donated to struggling households, with the club also hoping to lay on travel.

By the time we’re done we could easily be adding another 1,000 to our total who otherwise would have had no chance of going. Brilliant stuff.

That has literally brought a tear to my eyes. The generosity of you lot is truly astounding and you should all be so proud of yourselves. I cannot go which I’m gutted about, so I donated £20 because I thought it was the least I could do. I thought if we could raise £500 that would be great and would help some genuine fans who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to go. But £9,000 is crazy are you all on drugs?!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 to you all. So so proud of the team, the club itself and you fans. I couldn’t be more humbled if I tried. #UTM

Was going to go with my 15 year old, priced out, as I am a carer for wife.  I have over the 9 years looked after the Press Room on a voluntary basis, which was a release from my caring duties.

Hope everyone has a great day and you roar the mighty mariners back into the league.

I will be shouting and cheering at the TV.

I vote for Yard dog to receive some support to getting to the game.
You're a fellow Mariner, clearly a true gent by being a carer and to add you volunteered also. You seem a very kind modest person. Please, if you're offered some support in tickets, take it! I'll happily also buy you a beer 🍻

Will BT discuss the reasons why this is being done though?

If there is anyone who needs the help getting there then please accept it. People have put money in because we want you there. You don’t know when our next play off final will be - if ever.

I would just like to thank everyone on this forum GTFC and the trust for their offers of help, this is why GTFC has and always will be a big part of my life, helping out fellow mariners, you are amazing.

I don't like taking handouts, my pride gets the better of me, I am a proud man.

I had a tear or two when my fellow mariners came with the offers of help.

But I should not be surprised, because our fanbase in the best in the world in my opinion. We might a small unfashionable club, but time and time again our fans never cease to amaze me.

Thank you

I will donate.  Bank transfer details also at start of this thread.

Another brick in the wall towards many donations.

Yard Dog should get a ticket (or 2).

This.

It's an awkward thing for people to take support that's offered: completely understand the unselfish sentiment behind "I can't afford it but there'll be someone in more need than me" but there will always be someone in more need.

In this instance it's a very simple criteria: if you were outpriced by tickets and cannot go because your financial situation doesn't allow, you are absolutely who these fundraiser tickets are intended for. Don't feel bad at all about receiving them, as that's the whole point!

They’ve posted the donation details on their message board as well, followed by some really positive and respectful comments. A club who’s fans are as bonkers as we are, in a good way!

We’ve seen the worst (VNL) and the best (supporters) of football today for sure.

If anyone reading this feels uncomfortable taking help, then be reminded that every single person who cares about this club wants as many Mariners there. I can’t be there so I’m donating the price of two tickets to the fund, and I better see two fans using it to see our boys who deserve it. When we sing ATAW we mean it. This club is a family and there’s no such thing as pride when it comes to family. If you can’t afford it, but could go with help, then remembering you’re helping every single supporter of Grimsby Town Football Club by gracing London with your presence.

This is nothing short of remarkable. I’ve often criticised collections etc because as a club it seems to be something we suggest frequently, it ne er sat right with me when it was often things the club should’ve been doing anyway.

In this instance I don’t think there’s much the club can do, fans have once again shown that football fans aren’t Neanderthal, knuckle dragging idiots but are in fact humans with a kind heart and generosity.

I understand that people are often too proud to ask for support, I get it and I’ve spent years working with the children of those very families but encourage folk to take it. Nobody will offended if a bloke needs an adult and two junior tickets plus petrol, the club want you there, we want you there.

I don’t care if they haven’t been all season, this could be the catalyst that keeps them coming back.

Take the help, get down to the awful stadium and cheer us on. It could be our last final for years or it could be the start of a new era for town.

Other fans contributing, hopefully some national recognition, a sense of local pride and an unconditional love for the club and its fans…

500 concession tickets (12,500) unbelievable Jeff!

Not usually one to get emotional at things like this but reading through these comments has gripped me a bit.

The fact we have some folks from Wrexham donating - who would have much preferred to be there themselves -demonstrates not just the awesome family that is GTFC, but the family that is football.

Hopefully the Club/Trust manage to get as many people to the game as possible. Would love to know how many people it helps once it's all finished.

For all who have donated I doff my cap unreservedly, amazing stuff.

I Hope this gets the media attention it deserves!
Mainly to show how incredible lower league football is, and in particular, OUR club.

I also hope it's mentioned to shame the urine poor running of this league, but i doubt that will happen...

I was thinking exactly the same.

Though, tbh I’d prefer he didn’t try and resurrect some credit by doing it. I’d rather hear his ‘song’ being sung loud and echoing around the stadium.

Out of all of the fundraisers we’ve done, there’s something particularly special about this one.

The football-side of things is incredible. A big “Fúck you” to the governing bodies. The National League are a sham but we knew that already and their silence has been nothing short of deafening.

However, I think there is something more in this. As a society, we’re currently in the midst of the biggest economic price surge in living memory (if not ever). The poor get poorer while the rich, continue to get richer through what appears to be genuine exploitation, as the effects of everyday living continues to grow.

This isn’t a Grimsby Town/Solihull Moors problem, it is a sad reflection on today’s society. The way that so many have pulled together from all walks of life is absolutely incredible. It has grown beyond Town fans now significantly and the football world can be very proud of that.

I fear that this pulling together is going to have to be replicated and awful lot more other the coming months, beyond just football. However, it does show that people can and are willing to do it.

It would be a chance for him to take some credit but then I can't see him parting with £200k and it enables fans, the very people him and his merry men blamed constantly, the opportunity to go to the game.

What has been achieved so far is fantastic but hopefully we get some national attention today which will allow people from Grimsby and Solihull to have a day out that they otherwise couldn't have had.

I am unable to go so have donated.

Another reminder that if you do any online shopping you can get the Trust free money:

https://www.easyfundraising.or.....mp;utm_content=gs-e1

Works like Quidco and other cashback but the cash goes straight to the Trust. It has raised over £7,000 so far but seems to have run out of steam recently.

Nice to see this getting the coverage it deserves. Can the trust extend the deadline by another 24 hours, or is that going to be logistically too difficult?

My god, Wrexham going for the double with post of the week !!

Great gesture, all the best in the future for you and your long suffering fans, far too long in this hell hole. Hollywood circus aside the average Tom, Dai and Dafydd supporter have kept your club afloat for long enough and wish you all success (as long as its not to our detriment ).

Complaint and suggestion.

Complaint
Firstly after reading and joining this forum post over the last couple of days and also reading the Wrexham forum I seem to have a developed a medical issues of a permanent lump in my throat so will you all just pack it in!   It’s affecting my ability to concentrate on anything without getting emotional . I’ve ended up with a baked potato now because my Mrs got fed up of waiting for me to decide and went to her friends house for a glass of wine. As she left I’m sure she said you’re a big soft flat.  I haven’t got a flat tire I’ve checked so not sure what she meant.  So not wanting to burn myself cooking while looking through watery eyes I decided the potato was the safest option.

Anyway Suggestion
This aimed at the club mainly .  If and I hope it doesn’t happen we don’t make it at the weekend we will be playing Wrexham again.   As a gesture of thanks and solidarity maybe a heavily discounted ticket for their away fans as a thank you??  Yes I know we would have to top up their share of the gate but just an idea that I really hope isn’t needed.  Could we afford it?  Maybe every town fan throws in a couple of quid to cover it?

Truck loads of respect to Wrexham fans and I see Bradford now.l so thanks needed there too .
I love this club UTM

Got one space in my car for any stragglers, just wanting £30 to help supplement the cost of fuel. I’d love to give someone a free ride there, however my financial situation isn’t currently permitting it. Give me a message if you’re interested or want the details. Will be coming from Grimsby

A lad on the town fan Facebook page is looking for a single seat  if you still have this. Unfortunately my car is full now but said I’ll keep an eye out for him. Don’t think he’s on here but is there a way he can contact you mate to make arrangements?

I'd suggest someone from Mariners Trust or GTFC reaches out to Sports Interactive (if not done already!), the people who make the game Football Manager. It's the sort of thing they should be supporting.

The total donated up until the alleged closing point (10 p.m) was £23899.00
Haven't been involved in anything like it since Operation Promotion.
As well as thousands of pounds from our own fans we have had donations from fans of:-
Wrexham (totalling 100s of pounds)
Notts County
Stockport
Sheffield Wednesday
Hartlepool
Bradford City
Bournemouth
Charlton
West Ham
Carlisle
and at least 30 from anonymous sources.
The generosity is overwhelming.

Excellent effort by everyone concerned but outstanding generosity from fans of other other clubs in particular the two clubs we’ve knocked out thus far. As mentioned on here next time we play them we should offer cheaper tickets so we can return the favour.

In reality I always thought the term "football family" meant nothing and was just bandies around by the media when covering a player who had a bad injury, addiction problems or had transgressed in some way but this has proved me wrong once more.

Well done to al involved and the other clubs who donated.

I don’t think I’ve ever felt more proud to be a Town fan than I have in these last 10 days.

What’s particularly brilliant is that, in a season where some in the media have tried to portray Town fans as a bunch of mindless, drugged up yobs, the respect that fans of other clubs have for us remains crystal clear. And that’s all that matters.

Feels a long way from rampaging hooligans snorting Charlie and wrecking trains doesn't it?

I work in Lincoln signalling centre with around 20 Lincoln fans and showed them all this, they’re all astounded by the support (no animosity whatsoever) football brings a lot of people together.

Has anyone else noticed those clubs above do not contain any glamorous teams. Just hard core proper football clubs.
Massive thank you to all who have donated.

Most Lincoln fans I know, and it’s a great many having lived here for 45 years, all want town to come back up immediately. They want the local rivalry of us being in the same league and to quote one on Sunday “ let’s face it Grimsby have always been a bigger club than us”.

Not getting into the old debate of my clubs bigger than your club debate, especially now with their crowds which are holding up much better than most of us thought, but think underneath the rivalry there is a lot of respect for Town over here.

Quoted from The Yard Dog
Was going to go with my 15 year old, priced out, as I am a carer for wife.  I have over the 9 years looked after the Press Room on a voluntary basis, which was a release from my caring duties.

Hope everyone has a great day and you roar the mighty mariners back into the league.

I will be shouting and cheering at the TV.
