Let's see who we are playing in the final then.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Don’t think they’re much to fear. A excrement Chesterfield side are making chances against them.

Yes but he got sent off at the end of the season and is on a three match ban, so won't feature in the final even if they make it there.

Not worried about Solihull if they win this - we're more than a match for them in our current guise (the last time we played them we had Burgess starting in midfield and only won because we weren't prepared for their 7ft striker - think we'll have a much better gameplan against them this time if they win)

3 match ban after a red card. He’s been just about their best player according to my Brummy sources.

I think we’d struggle if we play SHM but also Chesterfield clearly believe people have written them off which is a dangerous mind set to come up against as the likes of Cooke will have a “go out and prove them wrong” narrative in the run up to the final if they get through.

Maybe though our opponents might just be a bit concerned about some of the thefts we pose as well.

If it does turn out to be Solihull just remember 2006. We beat Cheltenham fairly comfortably twice that season but they turned us over in the final.

Very strong side, and good from set pieces, easy to become too occupied with the Giant.

Off the pitch we’re gonna have to create our own atmosphere and get behind the boys from minute 1

Not sure after our last two performances why fans are worried about the opposition, surely nobody is going to want to play us?

We beat a good footballing team in County by stopping them play and we beat a set piece orientated Wrexham by both playing football and scoring from set pieces. We also tried out a number of new set piece moves that were nearly successful.

Solihull are clearly a good team with a good manager and they are on an extremely good run but so were Stockport when we played them. Look forward to the challenge and cheering us back to the EFL.

I’d have preferred Chesterfield to be honest , they seemed to be on a terrible run and I reckon we’d have battered them.
Solihull worry me more although I really hope we can do it , looking at their ground they won’t be adding any value to the Football league

Solihull are clearly a good side, they move it very well at times and are quick on the break and of course have a physical threat, not to mention their gamesmanship!

We will obviously outnumber them by quite some way so we need to be loud and proud and give our players the boost and support they deserve!

We'll do well to take 12500. We should be happy with that aswell. I know a few who would love to go. Would of definitely gone 2 year ago but money is tight. Even tighter than ever, the next few month look bleak, It won't be cheap. Its on TV, alot already have garden parties etc planned. Nothing ROYAL, just an excuse to get the disposal bbq out. Forget the royals. Have a promotion party instead. The misses is happy I won't be in town, I'm happy I won't be at family gathering. Utm

It’s a bit niche but Solihull’s keeper is the spitting image of the boxer Antony Fowler.

Is it me or does the Solihull pitch look very narrow.

Solihull look a good side and deserved the win, play some nice football and are a threat from set pieces/

Probably the favourites after the season but we'll have a lot of momentum and the bulk of the support on our side.

Its gonna be a tough one. One stat I can see that makes me feel better is their overall record against the other top teams other than us is pretty poor, especially away from home. But just dont know on the day do you

Solihull win well deserved, Chesterfield looked like they gave up after they conceded a goal and didn't believe they could win. They have some good players and I'm sure dealing with Godzilla will be a challenge for our defence but I'm sure Hurst will have a plan and the team will be well up for the game.

It would be really easy to deal with if Ardley was a bell end but since he's been at SHM he's clearly done a decent job and seems like a decent bloke, the same can be said for Hurst though for sure.

We'll be underdogs again so less pressure? not sure about that as the prize is massive. If we can start fast, keep a good tempo and more importantly keep the ball when we have it we have a good chance as we've got talent in the squad as well as heart, work rate and set pieces.

Osbourne didn’t fancy it. Decent he may be but forever a conference player. He worries me not…

I’ve said it many times on here. If you all knew the real reason Osbourne left there’s not one of us would blame him.

Batch, Crombie, Moore K, Wiggington, Cumming, Waters, Bonnyman, Ford, Emson, Drinkell, Whymark. Love you all, You are the reason I'm on here. You've had help from Todd, Handyside, Futcher P, Groves, Mendonca, Macca etc etc etc. Up The Mariners!!!!!!!!!

Both Grimsby and Solihull will be happy with their opponents. It could take a decade for either club to have a good a chance again. This division is a nightmare to get out of.

The fact that Solihull has beaten us twice already, hopefully law of averages mean that it is our turn to beat them!

Couldn’t watch the game today.  Mention of Solihull’s gamesmanship in this thread.  Officials need to be on the ball in the final.  Hopefully, a decent ref and not the ref for Bristol Rovers or yesterday.

Reminded me of a comment by BT Sports yesterday.  The “first” penalty;  when given, they said “why didn’t the Grimsby players surround the referee?”.

A sad indictment on the PL and how their players behave to try and get any advantage or influence.

Did the ref yesterday even things up later in the match?

We will be underdogs again, 3rd v 6th.

But we have every chance. Once again it will be close and come down to who takes their chances.

Have been impressed with Solihull this season and were my favourites for promotion. With wins against us home and away and a higher finish we should be the underdogs. They deserve respect but many Town fans will feel we have it in the bag just based of our superior support. But these guys are no mugs. We will do well to win this one.

As regards being “loud and proud” next Sunday, any West Ham fan will tell you we’ll have our work cut out. The low angle of the seating to the pitch makes it difficult for sound to travel. It’s really an athletics stadium, and was never designed for football. That’s why most of them hate it, and preferred the intimacy of Upton Park. Still, if anyone.can make their presence felt it’s the Town fans!

Doing a large proportion of our fanbase a dis-service there I reckon.

Would Osborne still have been suspended for the final if Solihull had played an extra playoff match like we had to?

Whatever the reason Osbourne left, that doesn’t mean he didn’t have to put a shift in.

He had the ability but I’m not convinced we ever really saw real effort.

Osbourne will blend in to the abyss and myth of those players who was good but better in peoples heads…

I’d happily take our current midfield rather than one with Osbourne in it…

Just seen that Solihull has the fewest number of league defeats (7) this season.  Stockport and Wrexham had more.  High scorers as well.  Tough match Sunday.  They want to be in the EFL for the first time.  Like Harrogate etc achieved.

In this case it’s completely appropriate it to share based on the reasons. Just winds me up people pushing an incorrect narrative in this instance.

So far 6th beat 5th and 2nd away, and 7th beat 4th away. So only today's game, 3rd beat 7th at home, went with form.

It's going to be a tough game next week that's for sure.

Did Osbourne get a three match ban or just the one? He could be a big miss for them.

At the time he left Osbourne was playing off the bench or left wing. He spoke to Slade and asked to be played in the middle. Slade didn’t give him the assurances he wanted and so he left.

I believe he found it hard being away from home too.

There may or may not be more to it.

Either way, I think he’s been one of the better central midfielders over the last ten years and it seems a shame that he didn’t play more games at a higher level as he certainly had the ability.

In the game at Blundell Park he went off at half time and the game swung in our favour. I’m not for one second saying this was solely down to Osbourne going off, but it would certainly have helped. His loss certainly weakens Solihull.

I thought we had more than a chance against Notts and a fighters chance against Wrexham, but Solihull worry me more than either of those.

They very rarely lose and seem to be able to score 2 or 3 goals a game.

I thought they looked as good as any side I've seen this season. Maybe not as flashy as Stockport, but very efficient and threatening.

Will be the toughest game of the three I think.

Ability may be but seemingly not the desire…if he was as good as town fans claim, someone would’ve come in for him. He may still get his chance but only with Solihull…

I’m not arsed anyway, Solihull are a decent side, better than what we’ve beaten but psychologically, the way we’ve gotten ourselves here gives us a huge advantage I reckon…

Somebody doesn't like J Osborne for sure. In a Wiki entry, they write under Style of Play "winning free-kicks and penalties by diving".
Just one less thing for the Mariners to worry about.

Look forward to the challenge and cheering us back to the EFL.

because solihull are a damn good side (have seen both games) and twice now they have deservedly turned us over. if they're not favourites on sunday, then that's  a value bet to be grabbed
