The Spirit, the Never say die, the grit, the determination
A team of warriors, magnificent. Paul Hurst and the Coaching staff have done wonders, miracles.
Im even more emotional than Monday, and i couldnt be prouder of this team if i tried
They wrote us all, Those smug welsh girl privates thought they only had to turn up.
Luke Waterfall, Ben Fox, Johnny Mcatee, incredible. mani was superb when he came on
Enjoy tonight lads, i know i will.
We’re Grimsby Town and we’re going to the Play Off Final

'I walked in the dressing room. The window was open and I thought that a sea fret had got in. Then I saw smoke billowing from a pipe in the corner of the room...it was my centre-forward. Well, I'm 64, nearly 65 but I can honestly say that was truly an amazing game of football and one of the best I've ever seen. I would have felt the same even if we'd lost. Of course I'm biased but I believe we absolutely 100% deserved that victory. Massive congratulations to everybody associated with the club. The club we've finally got back. UTM, I LOVE YOU! 😍 ❤️ 😘

Spectacular game and it was a real win for football in the end.
They are relentless, but it’s just anti football direct nonsense. Parkinson set them up to grind results out in the ugliest way possible. He’s a classless girl private as well complaining about the ref.
Paul Hurst has shown what an excellent manager he is, building a team with this spirit from nothing.
Fabulous stuff

Just back to Scunny. What is there to even say? How do I put this into words? Simply, the best week of my life. Went to Society Cafe to watch the game. Incredible atmosphere singing non stop got absolutely covered in beer in the 3rd minute for McAtee's offside goal and that just set the tone for the day.
I can't quite get my head around it still. Better than Notts away? Don't know, don't care. Every one of those players, staff and fans should be extremely proud of themselves. We just do not know when we are beat, because we are never out of it.
Parkinson's post match interview on BT sounded like a guy who knows he has lost his job. How on earth can he say the ref cost them that game, after the weakest penalty decision ever and a goal given when it was clearly handball? Mullen can do one, cheating b@stard.
Absolutely mental game from start to finish and once again I've probably lost a stone watching Town. Waterfall unbelievable has to be MOTM for me. But they were all brilliant. Fair play to the Wrexham fans this week by the way, shown they're a class above Notts County in that respect.
Onto London. 90 (or possibly 120) minutes away from the football league, see you all there.
Up The Mariners.

At 4pm here in Saigon I felt really nervous. Was it about the game? Yes and no. Of course, a real fan would have some jitters. However, it was more than that. I had called a bar t to see if they would be showing it. After all, I am in Vietnam and people say what you want to hear , not the truth.
My concern was that when i got there, they might not have the game on and i would hightail back home and find some other way. I wasn't disappointed . The owner, answer knew the score. He put it on. A scouser bought me a drink and wished me luck. I had a big screen and two TV to myself.
What a game!. Even if we had lost, I think we could still be proud. What a game of football! Fair play to Wrexham for making it a great game of football.
We now have an American and an Australian (the owner who knows a lot about the game) who want to wathv GTFC in the final. The nigh cost me a fortune in drinks (Port Vale fans an waitresses but who CARES?

What a wonderful game and a sensational result. Very disappointed in that Wrexham team given the money they've spent/invested in salaries, thought they were very one dimensional and we were much the better football team. Interesting comments from Parkinson regarding the referee being out of his depth given the importance of the game. Thought he was spot on, but he did fail to mention a decent ref would have disallowed two of their goals. Spent half an hour on the Wrexham forum and it seems they want McAtee, Fox and Crocombe for the title bid next season. Suppose we should be flattered if they weren't so arrogent

I have been watching town since 1971 and this game ranks right up there with the best.
An incredible game, like the commentators were saying, possibly the greatest National league game ever.
More to the the point we have one hell of a squad now. What team spirit, what determination, and what quality. The MacAtee and Taylor goals would grace any level of football.
So, so proud.

I’m actually speechless. I don’t know what I’ve just watched. This week has been arguably my best week as a town fan and we’ve won intercourse all technically.
The team works hard, battles, never gives up and plays until they die. They’re connected with the fans and the club has a vibe going on we’ve never had before. Town fans never gave up today and neither did the team.
My highlight, aside from the obvious was Hursty ‘shhing’ parkinson when he was moaning yet again. Parkinson was the physical embodiment of pressure today…for the money paid to assemble that squad, his tactics and style of play do them no favours. Playing for cheap fouls and a long throw in, ironically being their undoing.
I’d imagine his tenure will end before the weekend…

Wrexham clearly have some good footballers it's like they where under instruction not to play football but just play percentages and make the most of the set piece, nothing wrong with that but they've got more clearly. I was amazed how poor they where in extra time, when we went to 3 at the back they didn't seem to be able to deal with it. I did think it was very ironic that the winner was from a long throw, karma!

Was watching with some villa fans today and they all agreed we deserved it.
The ref made some terrible decisions for both teams, but we got penalised for fouls everytime the balls were played to our forwards.
Football overcame ant-football today. For the money they've spent, their style of football was appalling.

Today’s result must go down as one ot the best ever just for sheer determination, but reflecting back on that 4-1 victory against Man City remember Bobby Mitchell who played no.10 who would never play the ball forward always across the pitch or even backwards suddenly found himself over the halfway line on his own and had nobody to pass to so had a shot on goal from about 35 yards into the top corner. After following town for a lot of years we have had some great results and they never leave your memory. Well done boys.
|
| Dead Eye Dobbin stood motionless waiting, waiting, waiting for the ball to arrive. Back came the right foot, Down came the right foot, Bang ! Headlines around the world as the ball flew into the very top right hand corner of the goal.( Jim Dobbin scoring in the 89th minute for Town against Newcastle United away 24/10/1992 ) |

Having missed out on tickets I managed to blag player comps from a Wrexham player. Ended up sat right next to the tunnel across from the Town fans. What a game and big love to the Town fan with the ginger hair and beard who clocked me early doors and gave me an outlet to share the love! Unable to celebrate the goals and the win but was bursting inside.
We have got our club back. What a team and what job Hurst and the coaching/backroom staff have done. One more game.

Christ, if we could defend set pieces as well as we attack from them, we'd have had a comfortable afternoon wouldn't we. Wrexham's goals coming from 2 corners, a long throw and a penalty.
Absolutely brilliant from the lads. Very strong performance again, much like Monday at Notts, but had the very serious threat from set pieces today that Notts didn't possess. Thought we played most of the football today, and if we had Wrexham's budget and spent the money they have on players and we played in the style they do, I'd be very disappointed. You'd expect such a well-financed team to be able to play some nice football but they are so one dimensional and reliant on set plays.
Fox and Holohan did well in midfield to the point where you wouldn't have thought they were outnumbered 2v3 in central midfield. Fox has become an absolute monster in these play off games.
Great impact from Mani - again, not just his goal but his general play was impressive. Pearson coming on (and them taking Palmer off) helped us see out extra time without conceding from any more set plays. And good to see Raikhy get on and have a few nice touches.
I get a real sense of a much stronger squad now. Being able to take off McAtee and Taylor and still score goals as we have done this week. Mani and Abrahams having positive impact (though the latter shouldve scored), JMD not used today, Raikhy back, Pearson playing a part and Cropper the reserve right back doing a decent job even if easily beaten for one of their goals.
Just a mention for Amos who got an assist today. After some poor delivery into the box on Monday night it was nice to see Waterfall's 1st goal come from Amos' cross.
Thought we deserved the win again. I really didn't expect the level of performance in these two games so far. We've been absolutely brilliant. Hope we can do it on the big stage now next week.

Having watched a number of the “Under the Cosh” videos I’m not surprised by Parkinson’s outburst as ex-players who have been managed by him never have a good word to say about him as a manager or a person.
Pleased I traveled over from Lincoln to the Trawl to watch the match as great atmosphere in the pub and obviously a great game, great result and great finish pretty much the perfect match.

Parkinson displayed all the attributes of a man who knew there was only one result he needed today. Meanwhile, our bench was tranquil and calm at times.
Parkinson’s style of play are the reason they’ve failed to go up. They’ve got some excellent players but they play for set pieces and long throws, it’s boring and ironically, a long throw has seen them have to play another season in the conference.
Neither side can be pleased with their defending today but, again, I’m not a manager but surely Wrexham had our game watched and literally allowed themselves to concede 3 woeful goals, goals that were almost a carbon copy of Mondays.
I’m still in shock to be honest and if you’d written down how these games have gone as some sort of narrative you’d have been laughed at. There were times today that I felt sick, during extra time I didn’t feel well at all. I was convinced it was going to pens and I’d convinced myself we’d lose them.
We really don’t die though. We never give up and we’ve got a squad that trust each other, works hard for each other and will stick their neck on the line. They’ve connected with the fans and it’s impossible not to appreciate them. This week has proven that, two games gone to extra time and both games we’ve been the dominant side and seen players literally never stop…Fox, I’m looking at you. Absolute machine…

Agree with every word. I had to pull the car over on the way home because that sickness hit me all of a sudden. All I could think of during extra time was 'The mariners have to score this penalty, up steps Sousa' To be honest, I just about fully processed Monday night's game this morning. So this is gonna take a while.

After some poor delivery into the box on Monday night it was nice to see Mani's goal come from Amos' cross.
Thought we deserved the win again. I really didn't expect the level of performance in these two games so far. We've been absolutely brilliant. Hope we can do it on the big stage now next week.
I know sometimes it is man for man marking but whatever happened to having a man on the post like we used to do in the old days, we may have stopped a couple of their goals.
