Bumped into my uncle last night and he said a fair way the club could do it is give STHs who missed out first dibs for Wrexham and then put it out to other STHs.

They would need an accurate record who bought tickets for Notts game to do that. When I had to return two tickets I found they had both been booked on one account despite me showing season ticket passes for each ticket bought

Is the demand for ticket office sales really that high? Its 2022 surely most people have ordered things online by now?
A 7am release window more online sales is much better for the working man than 9am.

If it does then whoever is responsible for operating the ticket site needs a bölløcking because the demand really isn't great in the grand scheme of the internet.

When do they go on general sale ?
|
| The wife was going away for a girly weekend. I jokingly remarked 'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football' 'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked She said 'Well you already know how to play football' |

Tickets became available bang on 07:00. We got our 2 tickets with the time on the receipt/confirmation 07:03:10.
So easy. It should be all online sales only from next season.

Managed to get 2 purchased by about 7:03am but was a nervy experience with the ticketing website taking about 30 seconds to load each page and definitely struggling under the demand. Have seen a few suggestions on twitter already that the website has totally broken for other supporters so I suspect there'll be many left disappointed. Think the club need to find a better solution for selling massively in demand tickets than 'venue toolbox'

The system is creaking under the pressure at the minute. Anywhere between pages not loading, throwing errors or at best, loading slowly. Sweaty palms.

Managed to get 2 out of the 3 I wanted. Slightly bizarre system whereby you have to select each seat individually which isn't ideal when it's taking 2 minutes plus for the page to load.
Now appears to be sold out. Needs a better system for next season; there will be quite a few frustrated and disappointed this morning I would imagine.

I managed to go back in and get the 3rd one I wanted; was showing 1 remaining at the time, mind. Might be worth refreshing for the odd individual ticket that people have dropped out of their basket if you've had no luck.

I thought the club were enforcing 1 ticket per season ticket. People should only be able to buy using season tickets they purchased as a group and any accounts already linked upto a reasonable limit. There was a guy on the Twitter replying to a GTFC tweet offering a “spare” Notts County ticket minutes after they went on sale last week. Touting. The club should clamp down on it.

I know of people who was queuing up for Notts County who are not season ticket holders, and they didn't borrow a season ticket from anybody, they went up and asked for however many Tickets and they got served them no problem at all, wasn't asked for ST or anything.

Don’t see the issue. If a group of 10, 20, 50 or 100 all have season tickets and one of their mates volunteers to go down & pick them up, its better than having them all going down individually.

Have you got an on line account? You need one to buy ahead of general sale on line if you’re a STH, takes 2 minutes to set up.

I thought it was only touting if you sold higher than face value, that used to be the law but since the likes it Ticket Master etc.. that may have changed.

I understand the reasons why someone would be in the queue with a selection of tickets but it once again highlights the issues associated with buying over the counter; you’ve got no idea how many people/STs there are and it just confuses the situation.
Again, I hope the club learn and listen and for games like this just go online only…

All tickets now gone, unsurprisingly. Hope people who spent hours queuing weren’t left empty handed. https://mobile.twitter.com/officialgtfc/status/1529397951252029440
I was in the queue from 8:30 and was 5 from the front when they announced they’d sold out. Now on the reserve list. Many people in front were being served multiple tickets by showing photos of their friends season tickets on their phones, and their names didn’t even get checked, so for all the club know, these people could have already bought online this morning. Very poor from the club.

Yes I believe so, when it then says set up or something if I have a season ticket it just tells me to reset password or contact the ticket office. When I go to reset password no email comes through.

Hope they don't go online only, especially with the current provider...
Was on venuebox and ready at 7am, website was crashing, wouldn't load so I decided to queue up. They put up less tickets online to avoid that, but that doesn't matter, the demand is still the same and they really need better servers.
No, the person at the front didn't buy 100 tickets fyi, most the staff said they've done is 24. Got tickets thankfully, and hope those who queued behind me did too! UTM

I think if you're trying to create a fair system though, it should be one for one as it is online. Unless they implement a system whereby you can link tickets online. I do think it should be capped at like 5 or 6 too. I'm all for it in terms of families with youngsters but people that can't bear the thought of not being next to their 17 best mates for 2 hours? Nah they need to have a word with themselves, or try and switch places with someone when they get to the ground if they're that bothered.

You can link tickets online, albeit it’s not particularly obvious or intuitive. That’s exactly what I did, hence I was able to get hold of three. The system sends an email to the specified season ticket holder. Once they verify they’re happy to link accounts, you can purchase tickets on each other’s behalf. There’s no limit to how many accounts you can link as far as I’m aware, so in theory you could buy 100 tickets online if you had the desire and organisational skills required.

It has to be queuing only from now on.. no online purchases for limited tickets. Online leaves itself open to abuse from autobots and system crashes. At least if you see the queue all the way to the Rutland you know you may as well not bother whereas if its only to the Ritz you think wonderful.
Get yourself out at 05:00 and queue for the privilege of watching and feel vindicated when you get the ticket.

And if you don’t live in the area, despite making the commitment of buying a season ticket and committing to regular long round trip journeys to support the club?

This online option has only become available recently, so those exiles who have made the commitment will certainly know how to get a ticket on such occasions.

Ah that's decent. I've only got the 1878 membership as I mainly go away, I don't think linking is possible with that (would love to be corrected on that though if anyone knows for sure?) as I've had to wait until general sale a couple of times when I've been getting more than one ticket but it's not as much an issue for Barnet/Bromley away in the regular season as it is for a playoff match!

You definitely can link 1878 memberships. Don’t know how it works if you link a ST to an 1878 though. I imagine it’s possible so in theory a ST holder could buy a ticket on behalf of an 1878 member once it’s open to 1878.

Online only now I think but if they do that, staff can't keep tickets aside for their mates I guess. Everyone gets a random place at go live and anyone who enters after that goes to the back of the queue. A set number get admitted and they can buy tickets for their linked accounts. Face to face sales are much more open to manipulation than online sales.

There are multiple instances of tickets being put aside and people turning up to collect and pay for them after games have sold out. It's a small town, so word gets around and people have contacts on the inside to get them tickets. No issues with staff getting access to tickets for themselves but I know of people who are getting tickets put aside for them before they even go on sale. Remove the face to face over the counter element for these games and that issue is solved.

I don’t know anyone who would turn a ticket down if a ticket office worker was a close friend and offered to put one aside for them? Perks happen in most places of work. BTW, I couldn’t get online either this morning!

I don't know about that but I remember the 2012-13 play-off away leg at Newport. Priority was given to those turning up at the ticket office on Sunday morning which wasn't very helpful to exiles with less tickets available than today. The sense of unfairness was exacerbated by someone posting on social media how he had secured his ticket on Saturday night before they had actually gone on sale. He even took a picture of it. Not very diplomatic. That was it for my friend. He was a long term season ticket holder who did lots of aways but called it a day after that. We did secure tickets in the end but he never renewed on principle.

Tickets were allocated yesterday for staff etc. The remaining tickets were put on sale this morning. The remaining allocations after staff, players etc would have been well below the 1200.

So the question that needs asking of the club is how many of a 1200 allocation actually goes on sale to STHs? The line is usually along the lines of "the club has been allocated 1200 tickets and these will go on sale to STHs from..." when in actual fact 1200 are not going on sale. I know someone who secured Notts tickets BEFORE we even knew we were playing them!

It’s 2022, surely people are aware that an amount of tickets are always set aside for players and club officials?
When I was at uni, town were shite and unlike recent times, put away followings weren’t wheats more than 3/400 I often got a freebie from a player outside the ground…

Who you know will always be an advantage. I know Diddy Gilbert so whilst he was at town I never had to worry about getting a ticket for any of our games. Now I am in the pack with the majority of others but accept there will be those who are friends/relatives of players/office staff and they will have access to tickets before the vast majority of loyal fans. That’s life and 1200 tickets ain’t going far. Same happening round here with Forest fans who can’t get tickets for Wembley although as Huddersfield ain’t selling all those I believe a number will be in with the opposition’s fans.

Terrible shout, me and my dad live 2 and half hours away and make the commitment travelling to Grimsby every home game Saturday or midweek when we both have to get up early for work the next day, it’s not so bad during the season as we can get away tickets a week in advance when we have a home match but games like these it’s not realistic for us to have to travel to Grimsby at stupid in the morning miss out on a days work for tickets just so we don’t miss out.

No issues whatsoever with players and officials getting tickets. Staff deserve them but I know for a fact that staff are putting aside a considerable number of tickets for friends.

The players get a limited number between them for away games not multiple amounts each, Macca told me that in another conversation about another game.
Not sure about officials and staff but they deserve the option and I’d expect that to be extended to partners & kids etc.. mums, dads, aunts, uncles the post man and the bloke behind the bar I’m not sure are as worthy.
In terms of selling to STH and the public the only way to resolve this is with a points system & ballot. If you have an account on the ticketing bit of the web site it looks like it’s set up to do this so maybe it’s time the club pushed the button.

There isn't a fair way of allocating tickets when demand far out reaches supply. What is fair for one may be totally unfair to somebody else.
What this has shown is having one off games instead of two legged games give an unfair advantage to the home teams.
Maybe the home team should have been made to make sure they give a bigger away allocation, like the have to in FA cup games.

Sorry but that is total balderdash unless this was said as a wind up ! I am a STH and haven't missed a home game for the last 15 years. I put money into the club in other ways but, as a 74 year old , I am not that comfortable with on-line transactions. This is discrimination against fans who either don't have the Internet or are not very computer literate . I don't know the best way to allocate tickets for occasions like this , especially when there is limited availability ,but surely those who demonstrate the most loyalty in their committment to the club should get some form of priority.

If the club had a points based system you wouldn’t necessarily have to be on line to tally up a total as a STH as the club hold your data anyway and when they tell you how many points you need for a ticket both parties would know.

Tickets became available bang on 07:00. We got our 2 tickets with the time on the receipt/confirmation 07:03:10.
So easy. It should be all online sales only from next season.
Was on at 7:01 - put into a queue then only gave me one ticket instead of the linked accounts (to under 18 ST) and then system seemed to go down. By time got back in all tickets sold (7:15) so bit buggered ! Went down to the ground but multiple purchases (four people bought 41 tickets between them) meant well and truly screwed. So now waiting for reserve otherwise my lad will never talk to me again !!

And selling 80% of tickets in person "discriminates" against season ticket holders who live outside the area or can't get out of work. Someone will always be disadvantaged but selling online gives the overall fairest chance to the most people

I don't necessarily disagree with people with multiple season tickets buying as many tickets but the when people are buying 20+ that is an issue, even if they have that many season tickets on their person! Maybe there should be a limit of how many tickets you can purchase for other people, whilst still ensuring you have the relevant number of season tickets on you!

It's not an unfair advantage, its deliberately making the league performance over a season more important for the play offs (so it's fairer) by actually incurring an advantage for finishing higher. It also means more teams can participate - kind of important because if playoffs are two legs you can only get 4 teams in it and that means we wouldn't have even qualified! I think this format is better in that it rewards finishing 2 or 3rd so you go straight to a home semi, rewards 4th and 5th with a home eliminator and rewards 6th and 7th by stillgiving them a shot at promotion. I certainly prefer this to us having our season over as it would have been in the old system. I do agree with you that the away allocations should match the fa Cup though and be 15% of capacity as a minimum.

I don’t know, I’m not sure the demand would have been anything like this. It’s probably the one Town game I regret missing the most. I just couldn’t face it. I was at Newport, at Gateshead and of course Wembley that painful year before. I just couldn’t handle what felt like inevitable heartache again, after that turgid defeat in the home leg. I almost couldn’t bring myself to watch it on the TV, but had a last minute change of heart. There must have been others who felt same. The mood this time around seems very different. People are excited, buoyant. Yeah, there’s always that fear of heartache in games like this but the fear of missing out is far greater.

FFS the moaning Minnie's on here. With the allocation offered by Wrexham (Which I believe was the only allocation they could have offered) 2/3 of season ticket holders were going to be very disappointed and that doesn't include the non season ticket holders who would like to have gone.
Many of us were in a position to get up early and join the queue. Even if I had lived out of town by hook or by crook I would have got myself to BP to join that Queue. Because at the end of the day if you want something bad enough you'll make the effort.
Despite queueing for 3 hours and getting a ticket, its galling to see individuals walking out the office with 12 tickets at a time. So for those individuals there were 11 others that did not have to queue and that doesn't sit well. Some on here somehow see this as a positive?? What about some who had queued for 2 hours and still did not receive a ticket because the club think its justified to dish out 12 tickets to just one individual?

well I do have a problem with supporters buying multiple tickets TBH what chance do us exiles have of obtaining a ticket. if they are family members fine, but plus 5 or 10 I was under the Impression 1 for 1.

Yeah, I went home (65 miles) after the 1st Leg without buying tickets for the 2nd Leg which went on sale after the match. Luckily I woke up the following morning and I just had a gut feeling we would overturn the deficit, so I drove back up to BP and bought tickets.

any budding Carol Vordermans on the fishy, can anyone tell me how the club can split 1200 between 3000+ !!!!!!!!!! NO,then if you didnt get one stop whining, thats life, shite happens, put your lip away and get behind the boys.
by the way i dont have a ticket for Saturday either, but im pleased for those that do and im sure they will sing loud and make us all proud,ATAW, UTFM, GTID
By using the loyalty point system they already have. When restricted tickets become available the club should know how many points you need to deserve a ticket and offer guaranteed tickets to those people. Any remaining tickets could then be offered to those with a lower amount of loyalty points online on a first come first serve basis. That way the STHs who have been to most if not all away games are guaranteed a ticket and the guy who walks in with 20 borrowed STs (many of which wouldn’t have been used to buy an away ticket all season or just 1 or 2) gets nothing. Our away attendances this season suggest around 600 fans have probably attended the vast majority of away games. Those people should be guaranteed a ticket in these circumstances.

I’ve got some bad news for you. If we beat Wrexham you’re going to have to find someone to help you buy tickets online If you want to go to the Promotion Final.

There's at least 250 that get put aside for staff/friends/sponsors etc
This is why the club threw their toys out of the pram when Barnet refused to send any tickets to “sell” at Blundell Park. All those who are looked after (and also manage to get the best seats available at the same time) had to source their own tickets. The finger pointing the club did on the OS and on social media against Barnet FC was embarrassing and not befitting with the values the new owners have for the club.

This was my point after the County tickets debacle. People may moan about no over the counter sales but they managed to get themselves to Wembley last time and I’m sure, should we get there, they’ll manage to get themselves to the final this time. Over the counter sales for games like this need to stop, simple as that. Unless they say exactly how many they’re selling face to face to stop huge queues and people with 20 ST arriving I really don’t see the need to sell face to face. This level of demand happens twice may be three times a season, online only, full allocation, STH first dibs. They may well introduce a loyalty scheme but they need to figure how you award points for those away games that don’t require a ticket. I guess what we’ve experienced last couple of games is exactly how it feels for fans of clubs with 20/30k STH for cup finals etc…

It’s 2022, surely people are aware that an amount of tickets are always set aside for players and club officials?
When I was at uni, town were shite and unlike recent times, put away followings weren’t wheats more than 3/400 I often got a freebie from a player outside the ground…
Why do you keep citing 'it's 2022' in your posts?? Like that means anything relevant.

Well it does, the way folk carry on on here you’d think dial up Internet was still the issue. So many clubs went to online ticket sales only many moons ago for various reasons, whether folk like it or not, that’s the way it has to go. The fact we’ve had people on here banging on about face to face sales being important and then moaning Becauee one lad in the queue collected his mates’ season tickets to get them all sums some folk up… Loyalty scheme if doable for the 4/4 games it’s needed, online only, a website that can cope with demand, the end, simples really…

What happens with a loyalty scheme if we have a decent season and people start buying away tickets for games they have no intention of going to in order to get priority for the ones they do? There’s no bulletproof way of ensuring the most committed fans get the most scarce tickets unless there is someone who can verify attendance on behalf of the club at away games.

I’d do this, it’s what fans are top flight clubs do, hence the resale market. There’s no bulletproof system bht if people are prepared to spend cash and not go they’ve still committed financially. The reality is this happens about 3 times a season, yes the system needs tidying up and the online model needs to be more intuitive but it’s not an issue we have every week…

Because they always get tickets? Interestingly, having missed only a handful this year and pre covid never missing, I recognised 2 May be 3 people in thr queue for Wrexham tickets…I’m aware folk send parents/other halves etc but that’s still only a handful…

The current system is not equitable and open to abuse especially as people on the social media are bragging that they have got spare tickets and talking about selling them at a higher price than face value. That is not legal as re-sale of football tickets is illegal in the UK.
The over the counter selling system with the club meant yesterday that 1/3 of those in the queue were not going to get tickets due to bulk buying by people in front on them. If there was a limit then everyone in the queue would have got tickets so no the current system needs to change.
It is the current system that is at fault and does need to be reviewed by the club and we could criticise the club to a large extent but to fair these occasions don't arise often so it may have not been high on the list to sort but now with hindsight it needs to be especially if we don't get promoted.
Hoping that those on the reserve list do get a ticket and we will hopefully be talking about the final come Saturday afternoon.

If you can afford to buy tickets for away games that you don’t intend to go to then you’re very fortunate in this current cost of living crisis. As posted above the best way to resolve this is if the club press the button on the points system that appears to be embedded in the new ticketing system. If there are more supporters with the required points then tickets you just do a ballot. I get the techno fear bit but similar to getting up at stupid o’clock to queue you’ll find a way if you have to. It’s a problem but I guess it’s a nice problem to have as it’s an indicator that the team & club are on the upward curve.

Clubs also give more loyalty points for fans to going to cup games in the early rounds so it isn't just about away games. I've been to three home cup games at BFC, two of which were against League Two opposition and you get two or three times as many points than for a regular league game. Port Vale away was another good bonus. Town could do the same for Trophy matches etc. I get an email reminder of when its my turn to buy so there isn't the mad panic we get. On some occasions it actually tells me I'm guaranteed a ticket in a particular window. Where there are unsold tickets you get another go. I could have bought one for Chelsea away but was never going to miss the game at Chesterfield! I much prefer their system. It was abysmal at one time but the club listened to supporters after a ticketing fiasco many years ago.

I didn’t pay cash at any away game. From memory I bought tickets online directly from the home club for Torquay, Weymouth, Dagenham, Maidenhead & Barnet. I’m sure there could be a system where you email a copy of your receipt/invoice and the points are added manually. A system where you keep points for 12 calendar months seems fairest to me. There might be a huge jump in ST sales this summer so it might not be just Play-off matches where all tickets are sold out in the STH phase.

I love posts like these. Moan about people moaning then go onto a full on moan yourself.

Just received my three tickets in the post now. I had to put them through as two separate orders as they’d gone by the time I added my first two to the basket, then went back in to see if anyone had let any go, which they had so I grabbed the last one.
Fair play to the club, despite the two separate orders all three seats are together. Not a massive deal but a nice and sensible touch all the same.
