Hopefully should we get past county the club pull out all the stops to avoid the fiasco of today. With only 1200 tickets available to be fair to exiles and to people who can not queue on the allotted day we need a ballot to give all season ticket holders a fair and equal chance of obtaining one

This must also be done soon, they need to get you to register an interest in a ticket no later that midnight on the 23/5 as the game will be on the 28th just 5 days later.  There is no reason why they can't start now.  E-tickets would be a good idea as little time to post out.

i think it should be 1 ticket per person and not 20 like some are doing, always winds me up this.

In which case you would have to go and buy your tickets with exactly the people you want to sit with, for example a family of four would have to all turn up at the ticket office together to get tickets next to each other.

In situations like this the club can't get it right.  Unfortunately there's some people who are going to miss out simply because the number of tickets don't meet our need.  That in turn causes panic, as seen by people queuing up well before the office opens and people hammering the F5 on the keyboard.

What we need to bare in mind for next season is severely restricting away tickets to those that have sh1t on us this season.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

I still think that it was on Police advice rather than Notts,we usually give away fans as much of a 5000 seater stand they want

How many tickets was allocated the last time that you visited, that was a fairly important clash, was Grimsby restricted to 2000 then?

I don't know how it works exactly....but on my on line account I have something called loyalty points...
Surely this feature was designed for just such occasions so people with " x amount " of points are first in line?
Don't see the point of the feature if it isn't going to be used.

I’ve noticed this and I agree but equally, they’ve not been clear as to what they’re for or if they’d be used this season. If I knew that I’d have bought a ticket for every away game whether I was going or not to make sure I had the points…

I wonder if Town are gradually trying to introduce a loyalty points scheme. Brentford have a TAPs (ticket access points)scheme where you are awarded points for home and away attendance with more points for the longer away trips. This was introduced after a cup ticketing fiasco many years ago where many who didn't go for seasons on end swamped the ticket office and won out against the likes of regulars like me.

It can perpetuate an advantage for those with the most TAPs because they will consistently be adding to their points and there is a debate going on about this down there. Perhaps it would be fairer to have to redeem points for high profile fixtures.

I do about half of Town's away games and nearly all homes but those who go to all away games would have more points than me and get first dibs under a system similar to that at BFC. I don't have a problem with that.

BFC release tickets in tranches so you'll need a high number for first priority. Then they close sales and release more tickets for a lower threshold and so on. You get an email when its your turn to try.

Despite being a Town ST holder since I moved back up here in 2004 (bar the lockdown season) I've always tried to get down there as often as I can. I have more TAPs than most but accepted this season that I wouldn't be in the running for London derby away games but have got tickets for other games every time I've put in for them. I've taken a GTFC friend to a couple of them.

The TAPs system has its critics but it does reward those who have been the most loyal. It doesn't create the panic that we saw today either. Not a flawless system but worth a thought.

I was fortunate enough to get a ticket for Notts County with friends today but it was hard work.

If meadow lane was going to be full no problem with a 2000 allocation but to deny fans the chance to attend when there’s going to be 1000s of empty seats is an absolute disgrace

There’s always been that one bloke who’s got the short straw and had to queue with every man and his dogs ST. Don’t have an issue with that person, the issue I have is that it creates an uncertainty in the ticket office. The queue was down to maccies but it wasn’t one ticket person, it was however many STs those people had, hence the issue with then selling online. I purchased three so much like not knowing who is in the queue, they didn’t know how many were buying online. They didn’t identity how many would be sold on each platform so chaos ensued.

In this day an age we’ve come to expect much more organised approaches to this and I hope things change.

Ballots work although I’m still cynical. Someone rocked up when I picked up my tickets at teatime and was most definitely buying 4 tickets for county even though we’d been told they were sold out…surely putting them to one side isn’t helpful either…

Points based systems have been in place at top clubs for years and whilst people miss out, in the end, those who go home and away always end up getting a ticket.

I’d happily buy a ticket for every away game even though I miss a few if it meant I got the points, I’d always be able to shift the ticket and I still benefit….equally some club gets my money even if I don’t go…

The problem with ballots is for people who go games together .What if a family of 4 only get 2 or 3 tickets .Same if a couple only get 1 when both are ST holders .There is no way to please everyone in my opinion

There is no winner, and there will always be someone that moans. The club can’t win but, they can try and eliminate that farce this morning.

I don’t really know how the ballot works at top clubs but you’d assume they factor in juniors needing an adult to take them etc…

All these systems can be manipulated, it’s probably completely immoral, in fact it is but I’m not sure how you change that when society is seemingly inherently selfish.

I have a bigger issue if people start selling tickets for more than face value. Just sell to a legit fan and move on…

It’s a no win situation for anyone. The club could look into loyalty structures etc but it doesn’t help right now given the fact we were only given an amount that didn’t meet demand. What if we’d been playing borehamwood, Solihull or Dagenham, each with a 1/4 of the capacity of meadow lane.

There are some great loyalty schemes out there that the club could look at (England supporters (points based), sky vip (length of service) nectar/Tesco (amount of spend)) but deciding which is best is hard to pinpoint. Maybe an amalgamation of all of them? It’s not going to help right this moment, and, should we win on Monday and then face Wrexham, then once again demand will outstrip supply.

The problem with the loyalty points system is that the person "A" with the highest points gets a ticket which means that he has the highest points for the next match with limited tickets as well.
Person "B" with not quite enough points never gets a ticket as person "A" gets more points than him because he gets more tickets.

This wouldn't be a problem with us at the moment as the sell outs are few and far between.  Perhaps person "B" gets points for applying but missing out?

Surely there are enough examples of schemes in place at premier league clubs and big championship clubs that we can just nick one that suits us?

I was at Forest last night ,the normal away allocation is only 2000 , you only get more for cup matches , Forests allocation at Bramall Lane was only 3000.

Maybe a good way forward - and to stop people being split up/missing out altogether could be that two season ticket holders/friends who sit together go into the ballot together, ensuring that you aren't alone at a game if you get pulled out of the bag? Not ideal, but kind of makes a bit of sense?

'I walked in the dressing room. The window was open and I thought that a sea fret had got in. Then I saw smoke billowing from a pipe in the corner of the room...it was my centre-forward. He looked seven stone wet through. He went on to score thirty-odd goals that season.' Lawrie McMenemy on encountering the legend that was Matt Tees.
