Never saw eye to eye with him but RIP Steve.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Another sad day. Steve was a real gentleman-a really nice guy.
His support for the Trust, especially in the early days of the relaunch helped us to get established.

I’m sorry to ask the obvious question and apologies if I really ought to know this, but is he any relation of John Fenty?

Always sad when a fellow mariner falls though. RIP Steve.

He was 58, and battled Brain Cancer for 9 months, sadly it was one of the most aggressive types of tumours and it was extremely resilient to chemo and radiotherapy. He passed at home peacefully on Tuesday 29th March.

Rest in peace Steve, far far too young, UTM.

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

Whenever I hear stories like this, it just makes me want to count my blessings. Thankfully my brain tumour was the lowest grade one and they successfully managed to remove it all. I still go for yearly MRI scans but so far all have shown no signs of any regrowth.

So thankful for this especially when I hear about others like Steve who were not so lucky.

Sad news, I never knew Steve as a man but remember him well from school, he was in my year and in the same school football team throughout our secondary education years. I will always remember him as a bubbly friendly lad who was good, decent, and energetic (and I think a big Leeds fan back then) It is a bit of  shock when those you remember so vibrantly pass away, my deepest condolences go out to all his family
RIP Steve

Steve was a top top bloke. Town through and through. Shared a few beers with him, really gutted though I'm afraid we knew it was coming. Worked so hard for so long, retired only a short time and this happens. Life really is so unfair. Thinking of his partner Lynsey and all of his family.

Such sad news hearing of Steve's passing

I remember back in the late 70s / early 80s taking him to a few away games with us as he was maybe too young to drive

I just recall him being an avid Town fan who just wanted to be there to see his team play

I didn't realise back then the input that the Fenty family would have on the club but it was from their dad's own club, (on the Rutland Arms site ) that we all started the Grimsby Town Supporters Sports & Social Club and we got to organsise our own coaches to away days.

Funny but I don't remember John so much from back then but Steve and his brother Paul were always there or thereabouts

My condolences go to all the family.... 58 is no age and it must be so difficult for them all to come to terms with

Once a Mariner, always a Mariner.

RIP Steve 😔
