Was never the most appreciated player in his time here but I still hope that he gets a decent reception from the BP crowd tommorrow.

Memory might be off but didn’t he score a long range volley at home to QPR possibly ? Remember I was excited when we signed him , for a few hundred grand too .. under rated , a steady Eddie , 7/10 most games … he’ll get a decent receipt in I’d imagine

Yeah £300,000, was the record fee for us at the time. Played almost 90 times for us in just shy of three seasons and was a fairly big part of the 97/98 team. Like you say, steady eddie sort of player. I reckon he'd have got more praise had he been playing today for us when there's a significant amount of footage to watch back on in comparison to the 90s.

Is it me or does that Reddy goal vs Torquay get a bit too much credit? Absolutely no way is it better than Widdrington's.

I seem to remember him giving the ball away a fair bit in his first year at Blundell Park, with at least a few times leading to the opposition scoring, when we got relegated to the 2nd division.

One of my favourite goals ever that. He was following the legend that is Paul Groves in the heart of our midfield which is probably why he was underappreciated back then.

Played his part when called upon In central midfield but Burnett and Groves was a excellent partnership.

One of my favourite goals that I can just about remember. Also seem to recall them asking on the tannoy at half time if any photographers had managed to capture any images of the goal.

Decent enough player, struggled with a couple of injuries though possibly? It was also Widdrington that Kevin Donovan was pointing at as he celebrated his goal against Northampton in the playoff final wasn’t it? It seemed to rile the cobblers fans as they thought he was pointing at them!

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"
