I can’t see it being a marquee signing of any description, obviously what is available to hurst at present isn’t blowing him away.

Id rather get by with mcatee whos had a great start and taylor whos done well too, john lewis will be back at some stage, and then hopefully they do so well we just need backup for them in jan or theres someone of really high quality available in january, Id rather hurst not sign just anyone onto our wage books when were probably that players last resort too, and I dont think hurst would do that anyway

I'd imagine we'll perhaps get a young striker with a bit of pace in on loan from a Championship/League One club. That's on the assumption that LJL isn't going to be out for too long. What about Grant? He can play as a striker, I understand. Is he due back soon?

'I'd rather get by' is an attitude that needs leaving firmly in the Fenty era and not in this one.

We had a YT on the bench on Saturday and will probably have to do the same again, that isn't going to be good enough for a promotion chasing side.

Ajose isn't the type of striker I'd imagine we're in for, I think it'll be a more physical and traditional No 9 type. But he's definitely the type of player that if you could get a tune out of him would be lethal at this level.

To be fair I don't think there is a rumour. I filtered the link by free agents who played in League 2 last season. One of the 4 that came up was 34 year old Calvin Andrew but Nicky Ajose was another name I recognised.

Noticing he was 29, I put his name here as my guess.

Looked into Ajose when I was bored and did a bit of amateur online scouting a little while back. In the last 3 seasons he's managed 27 appearances and from that got 4 goals and 4 assists.

To be fair I don't think there is a rumour. I filtered the link by free agents who played in League 2 last season. One of the 4 that came up was 34 year old Calvin Andrew but Nicky Ajose was another name I recognised.

Agard looks to be finished sadly, hasn’t played a league game in over 18 months. I flicked through the list of England-based free agents a few weeks’ back and almost all looked to be available for a reason, be it long-term injury or snorting too much of the old Colombian dancing dust.

The one name that has surprised me I’m not having found a club is Aramide Oteh, released in the summer by QPR but having been on loan at Walsall, Bradford, Stevenage and Colchester. He’s got a modest if not prolific scoring record at that level, but having literally just turned 23 today you’d imagine he’s young enough to improve with some regular first team football under his belt.

I think it’s fairly unlikely we’ll sign a free-agent now though and it will most likely be a loan of some sort.
