Comes highly recommended... from Bristol City...

Let's hope it's not from Holloway's scouting network!

Just kidding. But having loaned a few players from the Bristol area last season, and it not really work out for any of them, I imagine we have to sell ourselves even harder given the reputational damage Runaway and Fenty caused.

Hopefully, before too long, we don't have to do the hard sell and good people will want to come and play for us.

I always think four centre backs is more than enough but then I remember the time we went into that Palace cup game with Hall-Johnson and Luke Hendrie as our centre backs because of an injury/suspension crisis!

Already played for Bristol city first team.
Just signed a 3 year contract with them (they must rate him).
Naturally left footed centre back.

He’ll do for me.

Always good to have another option. He's likely to have a bit more pace than our other central defenders and, if he can pass it a bit, could help us set up with a 3-5-2 or perhaps a 3-4-3 at times.

Always thought we'd bring in another CB.

I think most will understand that Saturday's pairing of Waterfall and Pearson is lacking a bit of pace and mobility. And the general plan would be to have one of them alongside Longe-King or another more mobile type in his mould.

So now should be Longe-King/Towler alongside Waterfall/Pearson.

Makes sense to me.

And to those who might say...booo thought we were after a striker.....well clearly we still are. It doesnt mean we cant improve other areas of the team too.

Going back to that Palace game, I thought Cardwell was brilliant when he came on and slotted into the centre of our back 8.

Echo what Tommy has mentioned. Think we won't see a Pearson/Waterfall partnership unless in a 3-5-2 this year. He will rotate with Longe-King and get his chance in the next few games to prove his worth.

Out of interest, did the club catch you out by only telling certain people that our Number N N N N NINE was on the verge of signing?

Played left wing back in his three league games for Bristol City last season. I wonder if it’s a signal that Hurst intends to play three at the back more often. The fact that he’s started league games for a side as good as Bristol City is very encouraging to me.

Pretty happy with this one, despite having never heard of him two hours ago.

Well we scored four and it should have been more on Saturday. At the same time we conceded 3 to a team who had scored 1 goal in 3 games before that. So which end of the pitch would that suggest the most pressing concerns were?

The Telewag describe him as a midfielder who can cover in the back 4 - does that mean someone already confident with the ball to feet and able to play out from the back?

Less hoof ball as in previous years, and hopefully more good ground level passing.

If he has played at a higher level and they think enough to offer a new 3 year contract, we could have made another good versatile signing.

A good defence takes pressure off the attacking players to have to score 4 each week, and will help Hurst to make the right striker decision going forward.

Hurst having more choice from EFL clubs needing to loan out a player needing a hardening up experience at our level.

The wait continues !

Suspensions, cup games, covid and injuries could soon decimate our left side. Longe King is one of our quicker players and although Crookes can fill in at centre back in emergency, he isn't the quickest. Revan is quick but is possibly seen as a left mid.

Meanwhile, that Charles Hagan from Wednesday would fit in nicely with our new higher tempo attacking game. Max can play on either wing as can Sousa. Crosses into the box, like Taylor's goal, are a rich source of goals at this level and playing out for a 1-0 victory is very difficult with ageing defenders.

If we can't sign a 20+ goal a season no.9 then give McAtee more support. Hopefully, Bapaga will make a claim for the left side by whipping balls in at pace as he gains in confidence.

That doesn't prove he didn't have knowledge. There's been many occasions where a player has agreed everything and changes his mind at the last minute. Vose was on his way to sign when Scunny called and he stopped off there to sign instead.

Except on this occasion Town did make a signing (after the club’s Twitter account hinted that they would be, as they do). It just so happened to be number seven, William Bapaga.

He guessed, and he got it wrong. And with that the ruse was over.

One way to identify an informant leaking knowledge to people is to tell those you suspect certain things and see what gets out.

Whoever has been informing TVFTL on Twitter has certainly lost their Midas touch recently too.

A certain person who has recently left the club would need to know about a player signing imminently so that they could set the camera up in front of a lawnmower and research some original interview questions like "how did the move come about?"

I was there. He got closed down sharpish by Stockport's defence and had to track back a lot. Stockport's winger was very nippy and Revan was perhaps slow to turn. At Alfreton he was marking their pacy winger and did well. He was also part of the quick break down the left when McAtee slotted home.  At Boston, he was pretty speedy breaking from the halfway line.

Who said ' the first five yards are in the head'?  He did seem a bit off compared to previous games but no more than Coke for example.

that left side is too open and a breeze to get thru, barnet showed this on sat, so if this lad can improve in that area then that to me at this time is more important than a striker. In hurst we trust!
