What a free kick ! .Thought he was quality today and carried Coke at times , who didn’t look his normal self - a few games should see him back up  to the performances of last season. If that game doesn’t keep the fans coming then nothing will. The atmosphere was top notch again - well done all .

Hunt absolutely dictated the game (additional mentions for Sousa and McAtee), in much the same way as Benson once did. He was demanding the ball all over the pitch and is streets ahead of this level.

He's an excellent player. Very comfortable on the ball, nearly always available and makes the right decision virtually every time. Could play a huge part in our season.

I wonder if Hunt puts a few more games in like that, Hurst may request a longer loan period as we only have him until January.

Could do with Sheffield Wed running away with league 1 so they don't need him back in Jan!

If he puts in more games like that then he might be sold elsewhere in January for a large sum!

Was a hell of a way to mark his first professional goal, he has a lot of confidence to go for it from that angle and that's something we could really feed off of.

Wednesday have signed alot of new players and especially have competition for midfield places. He'd only be recalled if they had serious injury problems, but the likes of Bannan rarely pick up injuries. We should get an extension.

If he does, Town could/should be in the bidding.

5K+ crowds, extra catering revenue, and new owners lacking the Scrooge mentality of the previous malignant slime regime...why not?

Can't see us selling him, he's well thought of but needs to play every week at a level above u23s.

He looks about 12 but is clearly a very good player. I want to see how he copes when we are under the cosh on a cold wet day against a team of bruisers. Going forward yesterday, he was excellent.

I think he's complete rubbish........ he needs to be made to stay at Grimsby for a couple of seasons IMHO.

Seriously though he looks a real prospect and considering he's got a lot of filling out to do seems to back himself physically. I liked the interview afterwards when JT asked him something like "do you often score goals like that"? and he replied yes.

How long has it been since we had a player who could take a decent free kick ?  The free kicks in similar areas blasted over the bar or straight at the wall in recent years has cost us a good few points and more than a bit of frustration. Let’s hope he can be getting these opportunities regularly.

Looks like Wednesday are trying to find a loan destination for a striker too.

Josh Benson and Connor Townsend were the last 2 good free kicker takers we've had ..and both doing okay for themselves now...bodes well for young Hunt, very confident young lad and certainly appears to have the makings of a very good footballer who will go on to have a decent career.

I thought the first half both Hunt and Coke looked well out of it, individually and collectively.  Very much like a pairing that had never played together and couldn't understand what the other was trying to do.  Equally so McAtee was playing quite high, which combined with Hunt and Coke both trying to sit deep created a huge gap in the middle that Barnet took advantage of.

Second half there was a clearer instruction for who was doing what and McAtee was a little deeper.  That resulted in a huge difference to the balance in the middle but Hunt then stood out, head and shoulders in fact.  To the point he dominated the game and was, in my opinion, clear man of the match.

I think the Benson comparison is a fair one, definitely in the way he wanted the ball and then spread it across the pitch at pace.  It was this that was key in unlocking Barnet, especially once they retreated to two lines in front of their goal.

Well I wanted to add that I'm not that keen on Macca and I think they would be absolutely outstanding with another manager but I thought I'd better not

Yes, that's always the ultimate measure of these kids brought up in places that have perpetual summer and they're just not used to mud and wind and rain. It's all very well that he can do it in Sheffield on a January Tuesday night but can do it on a January Tuesday night in Chesterfield. Completely different.

I remember Dave Boylen, Joe Waters and Dave Gilbert all relishing muddy conditions, with lower centres of gravity going past oil tanker turning circle defenders !!

My point was that he looked great going forward with us completely on top against a fairly weak Barnet side.

He's clearly been sent here to toughen him up, so it will be interesting to see how he copes when the going is tougher.

It wasn't a criticism.

Except we play at Chesterfield on a Saturday in April. By which time, his loan will be over.

His agent was on Humberside tonight suggesting there's a reasonable chance it could be extended in January if he continues playing regularly between now and then.

As you, and I, often point out that we are all entitled to our opinions which is what the site is about. However, you have made a definite statement. His loan may be extended and then he could be here when we play Chesterfield. On the other hand, you may have a source that confirms your statement, so what is your source of information?
