Good for the kid and all that, but can’t be doing with hearing “Hurst shouldn’t let him go”, “bring him back” blah blah blah. Hope the lad gets a deal there and everyone can move on.

Totally agree. I think he'll score a few for a mid table side given a decent run of games.

What price tag? They've all been told they can go for nothing

He will do well where ever he goes if he gets games. Should have kept him here IMO
|
| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

Desperate for a striker right now and even if he's not first second or even third choice we could do alot worse than sticking with jackson jr.

McAtee's just scored 2 in 2 and we've won both 1-0. Hurstball is in full effect.

I don’t think he’s good enough but good luck to him, if he goes to Aldershot we all know he’ll score against us when we play them 🙇♀️

Hope he gets a deal. His attitude strikes me as spot on . If I was a manager I would love to have a team of characters like Jackson Jrs. May not be the best in terms of ability by all accounts for Grimsby but with his mindset has a very good chance of reaching and maintaining his potential. Sometimes in academy set ups Ive seen players who only give 70% if that and are not consistent and subsequently never achieve what their technical ability deserves.

I think people think he’s younger than he is. He’s 25 in January, any “potential” he may have had should have been realised by now but as it stands he’s miles off the required grade for professional football. Nice chap, good attitude but he should use his degree to get a good paying job and make some extra cash playing football on the side.

I've only seen Jackson Jr in one game last season on the Iplayer mariner. You do see some players though that do really well in their loan spells or at the start of the careers with the clubs but don't have the robust mindset to maintain that consistency . Football reflects life I feel on a more intense level. Short career and highly competitive .Very much dog eat dog. A players poor performance(s) over 2 games or injury gives another player a chance to shine and take their place. I don't know if you have seen "all or nothing on amazon prime on Tottenham Hotspur". Clip there sums up what a lot professional footballer up and down the leagues experience. Danny Rose goes into Jose Mourinho's office and asks why he isn't playing or has been given a fair crack of the whip. Gets quite heated on his part and he subsequently ends up moving on.

Is his attitude really spot on. In his last big interview he talked about how good he was and how the manager was wrong not to pick him for 25 minutes, then barely touched the ball on the Saturday. It was all about him, delusional self belief.

There is nothing wrong with believing in yourself………. Providing you have the ability to back it up that is 😉

I think you do need to have belief in yourself headingly mariner even when others dont. One of my favourite players of all time the great Brazilian Roberto Carlos said similar : "Roy Hodgson told me I would never succeed as left back. I told him that he doesn't understand football." As for barely touching the ball on that day I think that was just one game and you cant just judge a player by that alone. My thoughts on Ira Jackson Jr via the I player was he was ok but thats it. Despite what some think I like him though as his heart seems to be in the right place which is what matters.

In life dapperz not everyone will like you though. Just try to be yourself and aim to keep improving each day physically and mentally. Bit like football .
