Did anyone see there was a second ball on the pitch when Sterling broke into the box for the ‘penalty’? He ran right past the second ball.

Makes up for someone dabbing their pôofinger into Gordon Banks’ burritos in 1970.

Sterling again tonight was exceptional.
Player of the torment

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Sorry but I can't see what Phillips brings to the table, he just runs about like a headless chicken.

This was the excrement I love to read. Apologies for the wrong quote.

Sterling still running at defenders at pace in the 120th minute.  How does he do it?  But, frankly, who cares?  Great performance.

He still had to face idiotic questions again:  was it a pen?  Was it a bad pen from Kane?

Watched the highlights.  2 iffy free kicks just before their goal and a dodgy yellow card for Maguire equal a soft pen.  Jenas thought it was a pen as there was some contact. This was shown by a few replays.   Soft, but pens are given for similar runs at pace and tackles.

There was some OPTA analysis that showed Schmeichel saved 2.9 goals.  The best record in the Euros since 1980.

Bring on the Italians.  Another great game and atmosphere coming up.

Italy will clearly be a tough test, they are very organised and compact and will look to make the game very stop start as that is what they are good at, we will need to be on song if we are to stand a chance!

Spain showed us how to mitigate Italy even though they squandered the chance and lost on penalties. If we play into their hands like Belgium did we’ll most likely lose.

I would expect Trippier in for Mount and going 3-4-3 to tighten it up and look to exploit Italy’s lack of pace (especially at the back) with Saka & Sterling.
