Giving us away games on the first and last day of the season AND boxing day is a bit of a pisstake. As is putting Wrexham away on a Tuesday night. Torquay away on Sept 11th could be quite good if we're allowed away supporters then.

Yeah, doesn't seem right that we start on the road and end on the road. I suppose it shouldn't matter (we all have to play 22 home games and 22 away games).

Same last season, wasn't it? Started at Walsall, ended at Cambridge.

Edit - happened the season before, too - started at Morecambe, ended at Scunny... sort of!

Stockport away on a bank holiday, Torquay away in September, Kings Lynn on a Bank Holiday, Halifax Boxing Day and Weymouth in April.

Can’t grumble at some of those

I know there is much to be positive about the club at the moment and I would most likely still taken our current predicament to get rid of Fenty - but I can't help feeling depressed looking at that fixture list. The harsh reality of being back in at again is there in black and white.
Its going to be a big ask to bounce straight back with what will be a fairly new team. I may well be in the minority here and expect a fair few red crosses but can't help feeling rather deflated today. Guess there's always Hooters to look forward to. UTM

They ought to be able to accommodate us. 5000 capacity. Should be able to spare us half the ground.

Nothing concrete unless I missed it.

Does suggest that when seregation is required the away team get a stand along the touchline from corner flag to half way. At roughly a quater, best we might get is 1250. Might be a sell out for Town!

Yeah, I'd already checked that. Those ground guides don't always have figures on them, annoyingly.

A tough run of matches early on. It might even be a case that we have a reasonable idea of how well the season is going to pan out by the end of September. Let's hope we get off to a flyer.

A little disappointed with the fixtures - very few games in and around the big cities on a Saturday afternoon. Only Notts County in Feb and Barnet in April that I can see.

Luck of the draw I suppose.

No sense of adventure, some people. I’d sooner go to Bromley first up with a decent away following than in the árse end of February. There’ll be decent numbers of Notts County, Chesterfield, Stockport etc. whenever we play them, so at least it bumps the intrigue up a bit. It’s like Crawley when we first came down, would we have taken 1000+ if we didn’t have them first match? No chance.

Straight into em town, 9 points by the end of August.

Yep. Day on the beers in East/South East London and a four figure following packing out an open terrace in August. Absolutely no pleasing some!

Awaiting the inevitable cries of how beers are £1.35 more a pop than they are up north and that it'll probably be chucking it down...

Bromley and Woking are both just a short train tube ride from Central London like Wembley is.

Trafalgar Square anyone, then on to Bromley for the game?

Bromley isn’t in the tube network. Southeast rail from Victoria best bet.

I think St Pancras is better on Thameslink (Change at Hern Hill) if you are going to London by train as Kings Cross is next door.

Kick off time would be changed, if we are chosen for live TV coverage on the first day. Let's hope they go for Kings Lynn v Southend or no match is covered. I can't remember how many live games are allocated per season in NL.

Possibly. I always jumped over to Victoria then to Bromley when I’m way home from back north, as was quicker and quieter than Thameslink… but personal preference.

Apologies to everyone else with the train chat 😂

I think every club was covered at least twice on BT last season. I'd be amazed if they didn't go for King's Lynn v Southend on opening day. I reckon our bank holiday trip to Stockport is probably going to be on their list as well.

Any idea when tickets go on sale ?
I shall be there with son of.
Last time at this level, Tamworth away brought home exactly what level we were at.
I guess this may be another reminder. 😕

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

West Norfolk's a lovely part of the world for a bank holiday weekend. Just allow plenty of time for the traffic heading up the coast.

Anyone know how to get the fixtures image as a desktop background / wallpaper on my laptop?

https://www.grimsby-townfc.co.uk/news/2021/july/202122-fixtures-confirmed/

OS has download links for fixture reminders in calendar but I don't want that, I want it as a wallpaper - I had this issue last season as well, they deffo used to do it. It will only let me save the image as a web link :/

The game should finish no later that 7.15pm and Bromley South station is a 15 minute walk. Could be a bit of a rush but there are trains that leave there at 19:33 and 19:36 on a Saturday, which get you to Victoria at 19:51 and 19:55 respectively. Should give you enough time to get to KX by half 8.

Yeah, that's probably the best bet. I was looking at tomorrow for Saturday times rather than the actual date of the match. That must be a new departure as it's not showing tomorrow but is for the 21st Aug.

Or just watch it on BT Sport.

Bring on the red crosses.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Looks like the Southernboy and his mates will be dressed as vicars.

It's a drive to Doncaster from Scunthorpe for me, park up free in a sidestreet a 15min walk from station.
Thirty two notes return to Kings Cross after some Trainline digging and a Forty note Kings Cross Travelodge.
Can even use my pre loaded Oyster from Victoria to Bromley.
Back home midday Sunday, straight out for a pub dinner. Yay! 😁

Looking forward to this - Bromley away is the closest game to my part of London.  It is a pain in the backside to get to, as others have said.   Not sure of the pub situation around there - to be honest Bromley is the back-end of nowhere in  London terms.

When we went there before it was a ghost town on Tuesday night. Hardly any pubs in central Bromley.

See you there. Me and Jimbo are getting the 0655 down and the 2200 back to Donny. Parking at Frenchgate. Got quite a few trips to London coming up.

Got a couple of Oyster cards loaded up too.

@KingstonMariner - I'm sure we'll be seeing a list of the never-ending charms of Bromley posted up here at some point.

From what I recall there are a few bog standard pubs near the station (about 15 min walk from ground and one pub closer to the ground.   Not sure they'll be coping with 2,000 Grimsby fans on a Saturday afternoon.

To be honest, it is a place I drive past and not through.

I used to live in Bromley borough (St Mary Cray if you know that area) but that was so long ago my knowledge of pubs is way out of date. My memory is that no one went up to Bromley for a night out despite it being the local ‘town centre’. The impression from that Tuesday night game was that it hadn’t improved in the intervening 20 years.

Question about Bromley tickets.   Will it be "cash on the gate" (or contactless at the gate?) or will it be ticketed?  I've not seen anything about it yet.... Given the move away from cash (can't remember the last time I used cash) paying on the gate doesnt really seem like an option although perhaps I'm mistaken....
