Last time I drove there it took longer than 30 minutes to get to Spalding. We play Cleethorpes at lunch time that day.

It's the Lincs Cup game. Presumably we'll send a "Grimsby Town XI" to Spalding.

Featuring Felipe Morais, Danny Rose et al.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Clee game got pushed back as it can hold double the amount of people 36 hours later but the silence from Clee and Town suggest Neil Woods will be in charge of the team at Spalding

Spalding might well be playing the once world beating (when he looks in the mirror) Marcus Maddison.

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Spalding in the Summer!? As Charlie Williams used to say, “alreet flower?”

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

He has his reasons

https://www.sportbible.com/foo.....om-football-20210603

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Yes, I was aware that he had some issues, although that article clearly goes into a lot more detail than I was aware of so thanks for highlighting it.

There are 2 sides to every story of course, but he is clearly a very talented player.

I admire his honesty, clearly had his reasons and it takes some degree of courage to face up to them and be honest with himself and come out and explain what was going on in his own mind.

Having read that article, it's difficult to have anything but admiration for Maddison. Not many men his age would have the level of maturity and understanding of themselves to do what he has decided to do. I hope it works out well for him at Spalding and maybe he can rekindle his love for the game enough to get back in at a level more appropriate to his ability.
