“I remember coming to sign and having a look around, and being shown the training ground,” McKeown told GrimsbyLive.

“I think John Fenty was digging a hole in the middle of the pitch, and the gaffer told me that was the chairman!

“I remember thinking to myself, because I’d gone from Peterborough in the Championship, but we didn’t have our own training ground so we used to get changed at the ground, so I remember thinking ‘this is a really good setup’. Just having your own place where you got changed and trained.

“That was the hardest pre-season I’ve ever had in my life. One thing I remember is we did these 1,000m runs back-to-back, and I remember we’d signed Damian Spencer, and Mooro (Dave Moore) had to run it with him because he was struggling so much!

“I remember thinking ‘god, how old’s that physio running around?’ Little did I know it was the fittest man who had ever lived!”

Didn't see any of the 'no longer required' players on there, but plenty of Scannell.
IMO, all positive signs so far!
A couple more 'big' signings, and we are on our way

Enjoyed that video. Nice to see Scannell involved in a lot of the play. I guess it’s last chance saloon for him now. He’s not going to get a move back in to the league so his options are knuckle down and help drag Grimsby back up or focus on his skill school/other plans and life after football. I would like to think he’s well up for the battle here. He’s a talented individual and if we can get the best out of him he can be a real asset this coming season.

Best bit about those bikes & other new btis of equipment is Andrew & Jason bought those bikes personally after seeing the state of the training facilities, this was long before the takeover was even complete.

That was my first thought too. To me that shows that even if they are still contracted they have clearly been told that they are not wanted here and have not been invited to train with the first team players, unless they have been told given the option to train with the Youth team.
