The NL AGM has voted through a resolution to introduce a salary cap from the start of the 2022-23 season which Is expected to limit player wage budgets to £900,000 in the NL & £540,000 in the two regional divisions.

It’s basically the same as the aborted L1 & L2 cap which was found to be unlawful and unenforceable at arbitration.

The much maligned NL board were against the proposal but member clubs voted it through anyway

I love your sense of irony 😄

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

How can something deemed illegal be allowed to pass?

I don't want to drag up the many old posts about the governance of the National League but this is typical of an inept board.

We have to live with it this season, but next season in League 2 it won't matter.

In fairness, didn’t they recommend against it? It’s the clubs that have gone ahead?

No point in having a board or professional advice.

You can take professional advice from a solicitor to not commit a crime.  It doesn't mean you'll listen.

I'm in complete agreement with you, the NL Board are a farce.  But on this count they are only able to act on the instruction of their membership, regardless of the advice they offer.

There's quite clearly issues going on with the board and the membership, in all 3 leagues of the NL set-up.  It feels very much like a powder keg that's ready to explode at any minute.  Absolutely essential we get in there, do our business and get out of it asap.
