It's sad and funny in a way that the powers that be run a FOOTBALL competition. They have knockout stages, mini-leagues, and final stages leading to a cup final. All this decided by the game itself, the teams actually playing FOOTBALL.

The ultimate result is then decided by, in this case, 21 kicks of the ball. What happened to FOOTBALL, surely the 'Golden ' goal in extra time is a better way to end a competition. At least football decides the competition winner and not a penalty shoot-out.

Some may say the players become tired, but it is the same for both clubs. Also, let us not forget that today's players are far fitter than 20/39 years ago and are now classed as athletes, part of an 'elite' group of sportsmen, many of whom earn in 1 year what the rest of us can only dream of earning in a lifetime.

It’s flipping hilarious that Utd fans still have a pop at Jose whilst Pube head has achieved absolutely intercourse all...

Penalties are a lottery but in truth, Utd were excrement, Fernandez, the apparent saviour of football was invisible again, Pogba trotted about before undoubtedly being Frances main man in the summer and the rest just didn’t have anything. A club that’s spent millions upon millions had little depth and have lost to a side that have spent a tiny fraction.

Still, I’m sure the Utd narrrative will either be to demean the competition as ‘not important’ or certainly the fans will and the club will claim they’re working on a bigger project...

You have pointed out the feeling of many that a club whose players play as a united team are far better than one of individuals who are in themselves very good but fail to play as a unit. I know the difference in quality is vast but who would have given Sutton any chance of topping the NL this year, with so many ex-league clubs in it. The survival of both Harrogate and Barrow also add to this point.

Agreed...lol at the french league. Most exciting season for donkeys years and the side with the support of an entire nation have lost the title to Lille, a small northern town (I am aware that Lille are significantly more middle class than their rivals Lens). Why? Because PSG don’t play as a unit, and if they do it isn’t for long period or consistently, talented individuals no doubt but as a team they don’t cut it.

Utd the same, to some extent Chelsea looked like this before Kraftworks very own Tuschel came in. Juve, on paper have a better squad than Inter but again, aside from Pirlo seemingly over complicating it, individuality isn’t enough to win titles when one team plays as a unit...

Some of those pens last night were pretty much unsaveable, even from the later takers who didn't initially want to take one. That is barring Luke Shaw's pen which the Villareal keeper pretty much fumbled into his own net.

Is there a footballer who flatters to deceive more than Pogba? Brilliant for 5 minutes and gives the ball away for 15.
The penalties were brilliant though given the pressure. Most of them were brilliantly executed

Mourinho managed them to second behind City in what was a massive overachievement but OGS has topped that this season. With Liverpool back to full strength next season (and City actually having to try a bit to make up for it) and Tuchel getting a pretty good Chelsea squad playing a bit they’ll get left behind again.

I'm reluctant to comment (so as not to tempt fate for Saturday) but I've watched The Heathens a couple of times and I'm left scratching my head as to how they managed to beat City twice this season?

Who???

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

The Heathens .... after Newton Heath, as they all seem to be wearing Norwich scarves these days.
