I believe streaming of matches in the NL was only allowed this season because of no fans being allowed into the ground.

In normal seasons I think it is against the League rules to live stream matches.

I'm hoping that this season has moved the goal posts on this a bit. Live streaming hasn't been allowed previously due to the fear of taking people away from attending matches at stadiums, as far as I'm aware. This season, despite how crap it's been, has been great as an exile being able to watch Town. I'd pay full ticket price to stream matches, if that was the option. That way people locally won't be discouraged to attend (if you're paying full price and in the area you're gonna watch it at Blundell Park) and people who live further away can still watch. Or how about included in the price of a season was a live stream of every match for those that can't attend? It's a broadcasting/legal issue, but this season has proven that the demand is there across the divisions. Clubs not being able to provide this service essentially means they're missing out on revenue.

Will the club be streaming matches online next season? Would be a shame for the exiles (particularly those abroad) to no longer be able to watch Town (and also to cut off a revenue stream).

As I have said before, whilst in no way would I like to cut attendances down, there are people who are exiles and those who are aged or not well enough to attend games, who would pay a fair sum of money to watch a streamed game. At the age of 72 and with quite severe arthritis, I would pay the full match fee to watch, giving a sum of money that sadly the club wouldn't get normally.

I have just looked and BT Sport have got the rights to stream National League games for the next 3 years, which means unless they up just streaming one game each Saturday, or week night, the Mariners will not be appearing many times per season.

Oh and all the best for the Trust and Sandii seems to be doing a great job as [secretary?].

Some of this is easily managed if the rights holder has the will (and probably some money!) - the MLB in the US streams all games live but you can't watch your local team play at home in a given 'territory'. I lived in south Pennsylvania so couldn't watch the Phillies at home. But could watch away games. But, I support Tampa Bay and so could watch all their games as I was classed as an 'exile' because I lived outside their territory. The stream was actually local TV coverage of the games delivered through the MLB app. As an aside, paying for the app monthly was a fraction of what it would have cost to attend games live.

This could be done so that if you live within (say) 30 miles of BP you can't watch home games. I bet they could also make exceptions for people who are, for example, registered disabled and wouldn't go to a game anyway.

The exiles thing has merit but unfortunately if it is available on the Internet for those registered as disabled say, then friends and family can come round and all watch it for the price of just one ticket, so it would effect attendances and income

I am sure that when the EFL were only showing live night games on Ifollow there where many able to scam the system to watch Saturday games here in the UK.

BT Sport are showing 25 NL games a season, the rest of the footage of games has to be filmed by the home club and sent in to the media centre after the game as opposed to the EFL where live footage was sent in to their media centre as the game was played .

Yep, if I had a subscription there would be a queue from my front door to the next postcode of friends and family desperate to share the nerve shredding excitement of Town v Wealdstone on a Tuesday night in February.

But thats not the point I was making - it isn't that loads of people who are otherwise disinterested would suddenly be watching it online. Its that for people who might normally go to town v Wealdstone,if its on a cold wet night in Feb might actually prefer to watch it indoors for a fraction of the price and have supermarket price beers instead of a full price ticket and full price pint each, by popping to a friends house.

Its not the 'excitement' of town v Wealdstone, its the savings of not paying full price and not having to go out in the elements.

Not saying the effects would be huge but overall it might work out negative.

Whilst I understand the streaming games thing for exiles etc, streaming for folk who live locally, excluding those with disabilities for example seems a challenge in many ways. I guess there’s arguments for and against.

Surely though, if this season has taught us anything it is that watching football, watching your club on the TV is boring. I know a Lincoln fan, has been all his life, they’re on the cusp of arguably completing their best season ever and he’s said he’s still never felt more detached from his club.

I know armchair/premier league fans can provide multiple excuses and reasons for not physically going but they can’t be as connected to their club, can’t be.

This season has been shite for so many reasons, not being at the ground being a main one.

So whilst I do think an option to stream would be worthwhile, aside from the odd Tuesday night away game when I can’t leave work early enough, I’ll pass...

I live 90 miles away and watched 34 games last season, most seasons l physically manage to get to no more than 12 games a season, mainly away games. I would value the chance to watch games whatever the cost. And my 9t year old father who no longer is able to attend matches was able to watch too.
