'want to draw a line under the previous years ' in regards to relationship with the fans

'positivity' fenty would have to look that up!

They are both sounding a lot better than the statement that was put out. They give a homely feeling that they want the club to do well for the sake of the club and the town and be a focal point.

Favourite players Joe Walters and Tony Ford, what more can you say.

Nice to know it's their private money that they used to buy the club and not lumbering it with debt like other clubs. I follow or something like it might happen depending on the legality of the BT agreement.

They intend to change the culture of the club and let Hurst run the football side of things. Players will be left to Hurst to find but will have to have the right attitude.

Nice to know what their intentions are. Get the right infrastructure for Hurst, give Hurst the Budget he needs and engage with the fans. It's refreshing to know that they don't expect things to happen immediately but structured improvements.

New ground will only be done if it's viable and sustainable, so we're staying at BP. At least we know what they intend to do. Season ticket discounts from next week for existing ticket holders. Improved playing surfaces for Cheapside and BP.

Cracking final answer there, when asked regards what is success, no ridiculous tub thumping Championship in 5yrs statement, no mention of promotions, no rash promises.

Also several mentions throughout of new start, not raking over the coals.

Compare that to the last statement of the old board that blamed every thing and everyone in recent history apart from themselves.

Nice start.

What an absolute breath of fresh air from Jason and Andrew for the future. They intend to let Hurst manage and improve the facilities at BP.

I fully enjoyed every word they spoke with no 'um's or errs'. Very precise and articulate would not be draw on Holloway or the past.

This interview is far better than their original statement and gives us an insight into how they want to take the club forward, with fan and community involvement.

I wish them every success and they have answered all my worries from my 1878 thread.

Great listen. Club 1878 Tee-shirt anyone?

I thought that was very much as advertised - measured, well considered, positive comments without resorting to grand, unrealistic statements about the club’s long-term future. These guys aren’t going to promise anything they cannot deliver.

Still some questions in my mind about how any major improvements to the club’s infrastructure will be funded in the short-to-medium-term - bringing the club’s facilities in line with where they ought to be won’t come cheap amidst a backdrop of falling revenue. However, this is day one in the job and I suspect the answers to that will emerge over time.

I’m expecting to see baby steps throughout the club rather than any giant leaps, but simply moving in the right direction on all fronts will be a breath of fresh air after nearly two decades stuck in reverse gear with Fenty’s foot stuck firmly to the floor.

These guys are the tortoise to Fenty the hare, and that should not be seen as a negative in the slightest.

The future is bright. It’s black and white. UTM!

All clubs do at that level this season, because fans aren't allowed in. Similar to how we can watch iFollow in the UK this season but have never been able to before.

Not a single mention of bringing in players that will make the hair on my neck stand on end.

Very disappointed 😉

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

On the back burner.....for now. Priorities must be to get a winning team and promotion back into the league. Who knows? Promotion next season and that back burner may be sparked back into life again.

They are, quite rightly, prioritising the things they can affect right now. As much as we all want a shiny new stadium, the prospect of such a thing won’t help us next season.

When you set priorities you can’t just focus on the commercial benefits - you have to consider the speed and ease at which they can be implemented. A new stadium is probably a top 3 long-term priority, but it’s also the single most difficult and expensive thing to deliver.

Improved training pitches might only offer a marginal benefit, but it’s a benefit that is achievable in the here and now.

Pragmatism isn’t always exciting, but it’s something the club has been grossly deficient in for many years. How many different sets of shiny, 3D renders of various stadium designs have spanned the Fenty era? I make it at least four. How many different proposed locations? Lots. I still don’t see a new stadium, and all the while our facilities have been rusting and crumbling.

They have this right in my opinion.

I recall early in the interview, perhaps when answering question on fan ownership, that they referred to having to fund expected losses in the first two years which I took to mean they will need to spend significant sums of their own money on upgrades to the infrastructure.

They said they would consider all options -  different sites on the docks, Freeman Street or remaining at Blundell Park.

They would take their time to decide, but at least they are not desperate for a new stadium to make money from the "enabling developments" etc. which I think is good news.

Not enough consideration has been given to revamping BP in my view and they seemed quite sentimental about the great times they have seen there in the past, as indeed am I.

The better news is that Pettit is a property developer so we have the ideal man to explore all options.

It felt to me that Shutes had a new stadium as a top priority as it always seemed that he wanted a piece of the town regeneration and wanted to jump on the bandwagon

Sounded very much as though they wanted to take things one step at a time and do the important things first to help performance on the field. new pitch already underway at Cheapside, BP pitch to be relaid and I would guess facilities for players in both places to be made significantly more attractive to assist Hurst when it comes to bringing in new faces.

As far as other aspects are concerned, it was sensibly left open for today for suggestions during consultations with fans.

The proof of  the pudding etc.... but overall I was quite happy with what was said.

I think they actually mentioned improved training facilities as offering more benefit than a new ground as the management and players spend so much more time there. I suppose that's right in terms of direct impact on on pitch performance for the cost.

Long term and structurally though a new ground would bring in more commercial opportunities, bigger capacity, be more attractive to supporters and players and enhance the clubs and towns status, but at a far greater cost. That's the difficult part. But i have infinitely more faith in them than failurenty, they were very impressive.

Exactly - very successful people in their own businesses, but crucially who know how to build highly effective teams of people to deliver projects. They will deliver a new stadium - I suspect behind the scenes it is a big medium term priority but we've had so many false starts they are not going to start making promises on the first day.

Well performances and getting back in the league would be my priorities too, now even more so, so I’m not complaining too much about the lack of a stadium. Yet.

I heard that they wanted Hurst to have better training conditions, a better pitch at home, and Hurst to have a proper back room team behind him going forward.

They also valued Hurst for finding a proper back bone to the team from Jan onwards. Good budget for players who will be loyal and hard working, with personal references to.players like Ford and Waters as examples.

A back bone to me firstly means a good quality back 5, making for a better goals against for next season.

The creative side is not so easy, good midfielders and strikers will always be hard to attract across the cold North East.

Targets will know that the new era has begun, and will probably overrate their sign on fees and contract demands, even in the National League.

Names will flow and Hurst will, as usual, say nothing until contracts are in place.

The hairs on my neck await !!!

UTM for the coming season.

I’d encourage anyone who hasn’t heard it so far to listen to the whole programme.

They said everything I would have wanted them to say, and in the way that I would have wanted them to say it. Obviously the proof of the pudding will be in the eating, but (to mix metaphors) I want to be on the train for this journey*.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

I think they said a lot of the right things and have their priorities in areas where the club was failing so happy with that. A new stadium would be nice but it's a matter of timing, not much point spending money on a new stadium to play to mostly empty stands and 3 away fans from Bognor Regis. The staff, the players, the facilities and changing the culture of the club are all important areas to improve our fortunes on the pitch.

More than anything I hope for a rebuilding of GTFC into a club the fans can be proud of and a boardroom culture of forward-thinking and transparency, no more saying one thing but doing another or bullying fans and the media for legitimate criticism.

What an honest down to earth interview with no bullsh!t and false promises. They want to build the club up from the base, as in the playing surfaces at both BP and Cheapside need work to make them useable so the players can do the job. Players, that's Paul's job it was what they brought him to the club to do; create a team with their ethos and ethics.

BP needs a revamp with facilities and that what they intend to do and lastly the carrot of the new ground, maybe and maybe not. No false promise here. Evaluate what there is and move forward to a new ground if it's viable and not to saddle the club with debt.

Admission from them that if they do not between them have the expertise to do improve a situation, then they will bring someone in who has. Finally, leave the past where it is and move to the future 'a new day a new dawn' they said, and a new optimistic positive future from me.
