What has happened to it this season? We've always prided ourselves, especially when we was in non-league in having a good pitch.

Do you have a garden? If you want to know what went wrong this season simply don’t cut your lawn or do any work on it at all for the next 5 months and then cut it at the start of September and see what condition it’s in.

Wasn’t it rumoured that the groundsman got furloughed, and that the Chief Exec was cutting the grass?

No, they bought 2 goats. Apparently Llamas are the best grazing animals for keeping grass in good order but Fenty heard goats are much cheaper.

Cost us a fortune getting a 110 metre extension cable for the Chief Exec to use his Flymo.

No its extra cost to pull it back up again when we get promoted back up.

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. It seems established that they furloughed the grounds team, which is outrageous. We was always a team in recent years that was absolutely shite, but always had the best pitch.

I believe if you don't get it done and you get promoted, you're refused into the EFL and kicked out of the National League. One of the new owners first jobs should be to do whatever our groundsman says needs to be done.

We all know the pitch at BP has been dreadful this season and needs tearing up and relaying over the summer.
If we don’t pull off the great escape maybe we could install a 5G pitch for the National League?
Would mean we could train at BP without having to worry about the pitch.
If we return to the EFL before we move to a new stadium we would have to relay grass, but we could keep the 5G pitch and install it at the new training ground that is in the pipelines.
5G pitches haven’t done any harm to Harrogate & Sutton in recent seasons.
I disagree. I think the training pitches and the playing surface should be the same quality. Otherwise, the players are playing on a different surface once a fortnight than they are training on 5 times a week!

No need for a 3/4/5G pitch, (if we go down) we’ll have almost 4 months to get the pitch in excellent condition. That might mean some financial outlay to get top side of it, but with mentions of the training facilities and in particular the pitches there potentially being updates by the new owners, then I would guess they would want that standard replicated at BP.
I’m not sure how much they cost to buy/lease, but those mobile lighting strips you see at most bigger clubs would help no end, especially the patch in front of the Findus.

The pitch needs to be better and I’m sure it will be next season.
Looking at a number of clubs we’ve visited this season the overall standard has been poor in many cases so it doesn’t make it right but we’re not alone.
I’d like to think the training & playing pitches would be well looked after.
On a relative note I think that clubs in the bottom 2 Divisions of the EFL and NL should have the choice of being able to install a “G” pitch if they want to. This should prevent most postponements, provide a consistent surface to play on and give clubs some opportunity to raise revenue by using it for other football events.

In the football league postponements for excrement pitches aren’t as common as they are in the conference. Better facilities or stricter rules for covers etc help, and probably more than one groundsman.
Furloughing our groundsman tells you everything about the morons who’ve been running our club for twenty years and emphasises again that they prepared for the season to never start or certainly not finish.
I’m not a fan of artificial or hybrid pitches but I see why a club may invest in one.

It's a simple solution but would Fenty pay? He might see it as money down the drain. (couldn't resist the pun)

Afraid it goes back further than this season, the groundsman and Hursty were asking for major investment a long time back, but it wasn't deemed to be a necessary investment, much the same as the strength and conditioning coach at the same time.

No thank you, no interest at all in having an artificial pitch.
There is major work planned to get the grass pitch back to its former glory. Work and investment was already sorted to flatten the goal mouths. Clearly a mistake to furlough the groundsman, and the usual top soil and seed didn’t take place last summer because of the pandemic.
The groundsman was only given 5-6 weeks to get a pitch ready. The kids had trained on it too during the summer, as there was no other venues open. There was queues of parents dropping off and picking up their children from summer football clubs

So if the pitch was used frequently, furloughing the groundsman was an even bigger member up...excellent.

I'm no gardener but surely the salt would kill the grass? And the Principle Funder would have to buy a hosepipe long enough to get from the sea to the ground. And it could only be used when there were no trains and the tide was in........ Other than that, great idea.

Clearly, you have realised that come May 5th your mate John will be out so are you now trying to cuddle up to 1878, making one of your first criticisms against him. Covid should not have been a problem for the topsoil and seeding as you have to be 2 metres apart and surely you should realise that even 10 men on BP pitch could always be 2 metres apart. Another inept defence of our outgoing main funder, who didn't want to fund the groundsman's wages.

I'm no gardener but surely the salt would kill the grass? And the Principle Funder would have to buy a hosepipe long enough to get from the sea to the ground. And it could only be used when there were no trains and the tide was in........
Other than that, great idea.
I was under the impression the ground has it's own aquifer and can draw water as and when required.

Once again Fillipe Noche unveils some information which only people with inside knowledge would know! He claims he has no contacts within the boardroom at all but it's quite clear to me and others on here that he does as he very often posts stuff which aren't in the public domain and you would need to have contacts to know this information!

Personally I think he is one big WUM. What has he actually stated that wasn’t pretty much probable ? Obviously the pitch needs a lot of work. So it’s pretty much a given that it will take place. I really can’t understand why people on here give him the attention he very sadly craves. Calling JF ‘John’ and accidentally saying ‘we’ on occasion. As for the user name, if you really think either Day or Marley would be so obvious then you underestimate them. They are both intelligent men. By sticking up for JF and playing Devils advocate on threads people fall for his guff. Of course me posting this is a catch 22. Because it is giving him attention. If nobody replied to his posts he would soon leave. However I fear that that won’t happen

| The wife was going away for a girly weekend. I jokingly remarked 'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football' 'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked She said 'Well you already know how to play football' |

I don't think he is Day or Marley but I do think he is maybe a solicitor friend to Phillip Day? Fillipe does seem quite legal minded.
