Our matches do seem to have had a lot of freak goals this season. There have been some incredibly basic individual mistakes you just don't expect to happen often, but there have also been quite a few "worldies" scored against us too.  We have been very poor for most of the season don't get me wrong, but it also seems like the footballing gods have conspired against us on occasion, certainly in the goals we have conceded. On the flip side, the fact that we score so few magnifies the importance of every goal we concede.

Before Christmas I would have fully agreed with you, the football Gods were against us. On reflection most these goals are down to the teams inept ability to do some basic defending. Today was another perfect example, we had 4 across the back and a keeper! and they had one man chasing a punt upfield.

If people come to your house to do professional jobs and they put in a performance like we have seen, week after week would you pay them or kick em out? We were clutching at straws, Hanson's injured, games in hand, new owners, he had a bad game, replace them and we'll be ok or thought it was an improvement on a previous week. There's no straw left and the spiders web thread is about to break.

The only factual truth is IF we stay up Hurst's brilliant and saved us. If we go down, and the odds are looking good for that, it's not Hursts team. He's now made 5 signings so half the team is his!

In the words of Fraser from Dads Army,  were Doomed, were all Doomed.

No one could describe their winner as a freak goal, just excrement defending.

Struggling to recall any worldies other than that Bradford overhead. McKeown being beaten from distance isn’t a freak occurrence, it happens all the time and has for years.

Macca’s own goal was a worldy... I can’t remember one of our strikers tucking one in from that tight angle for a long time.

School boy error.
I remember our Game’s teacher - Mick Chopper Hobden - telling us a side is most vulnerable immediately after scoring... and that was the 1970s so hardly rocket science 😬
