One week ago, I made my first post on here declaring how optimistic I was and that other fans should share some of that optimism.

Since then, we have seen a week were we have only added Sam Habergham, although a good left back and an addition which definitely brings a bit more balance to the squad, continues to leave us still in need of a striker, which I’m sure is proving to be more difficult to attract the correct type as each game passes by.
Today showed a complete lack of what I was so hyped about last week CHARACTER. Port Vale were loud, aggressive, and fought for every decision and blade of grass. Whereas Town on the other hand seemed to drift from minute to minute without much of anything.

I still think that we should somehow find some optimism and believe that we will stay up never mind how poor we have been today!

For example, my optimism is currently residing in a forlorn dream in which Omar Bogle, recently fell out of favour at Charlton, and Podge Amond, with Newport having signed 2 strikers in the last 2/3 days, returning home and score the goals to keep us up leading us into a new dawn under the holy trinity!!
Town seem to make me more and more deluded as the days go by…. But as the great philosopher Jim Carrey once said “If you give up on your dreams, what’s left?”

I thought we started okay, looked like we thought we were copulated when they went 1 up and like they knew we were when the second went in. Just looked shot for the rest of the game. To be fair to them that's exactly how I felt. There wasn't really any crumb of comfort to cling to.

That doesn't mean there can't be though. Southend were dead and buried 6 weeks ago. Not any more. Stevenage looked done a month ago but not now. If they can turn it round so can we. They are still in it as are Barrow and Scunny and I can see Harrogate getting sucked in.

We just desperately need the right players in. Two or three could make a massive difference. We looked dire back when Buckley came in for his third go but he brought in Paterson, Till and Pulis on loan and they made a huge difference. I just hope we are prepared to throw a few quid at getting the right players in because it is hard to find much optimism on the basis of what we currently have. Next 4 games feel massive and they are. Need at least a couple of wins or we are going to drift off the pack. Big week ahead.

A few of the right players can make a huge difference you are right there Rodley. I know we do not like to think a lot of OH but he made this point several times and it is valid - we look OK until they get the second goal. Why? because they know there isn't a cat in hell's chance of us scoring 2 or 3 goals in a game. Until there is the confidence on the pitch that we can do that then we are done for because as things stand even a famous Hurst 0-0 is a long way off.

We have to start somewhere and Mr Hurst will need to pull a few rabbits out of somewhere this week.

It’s going to get worse before it gets better. Sarfend are only a point behind with 2 GIH, and we need to make a massive improvement to start winning points, so we’ll be bottom going in to Feb and probably still in the bottom 2 by late March.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
