Looks as though Hurst has found his way of working/training with a smaller group.

Todays reserve game states that the Under 23s will be in action with Scunthorpe. Forming an under 23s means the likes of Idehen, Hope, Starbuck, Sisay, Spokes, Jackson Jnr etc can train aside from the first team in a separate group so that Hurst can concentrate on a tighter first team group and increase a togetherness and team work.

Im assuming thats whats happened as never seen us advertised as having an under 23s before.

Seems a good idea whilst continuing to reduce the size of the squad.

Are you for real? We’ve had an Under 23’s squad for a good while now. You must have missed the fact that it was also given to Ben D to look after when he came back.

Really isn’t a Paul Hurst initiative

2 of the 3 wise monkeys are 'proper' Town fans, so I cant see them entering us in this competition, given the hatred of it by the vast majority of fans

Spokes doesn’t belong in that group, he’s far better than all of them

No Gibson in the Under 23's - maybe ear marked by Hurst for a start against Port Vale at the weekend.

It seems like Gibson is the flavour of the day, but Jackson Jnr is biting at his ankles, another stunner tucked away today in the reserves.

But from watching the team training several times, the one player that stood out for me with fitness, work ethic and talent to put the ball in the back of the net is Sisay Touray. For the life of me I cant understand why he hasnt been given a chance, apart from a few minutes as a substitute.

Hurst is now seeing all the players regularly and seeing what they can and can't do - if you watch somebody for 5 days in a row who looks like he can't trap a bag of cement then the chances are that he can't trap a bag of cement!

Miss Scunthorpe. Not a beauty pageant, just sound advice.

When I saw him for Clee Town he was like Bambi on ice and couldn't even kick the ball properly.

I know the standard is lower, but I liked the look of the highlights. There were some nice moves and bits of action, including well taken dead ball kicks, a great goal from Ira and I was very impressed with a tackle back from I think it was our number 4. The Scunthorpe forward was miles ahead in the race for goal and he caught up with great pace and tackled him in the box with the most fantastic slide in.

Idehen, showing he's got the pace that pollock lacks. Jackson looked to take up some good positions, and didn't realise that Starbuck played that far forward. He looks quite versatile.
Just hope that Hurst uses our youngsters and doesn't just sideline them into the under 23s. i say that because he's not renowned for letting youth have its chance

Got to say Spokes impresses me, really think he could be that creative midfielder we've been missing, composed on the ball, strong and has an eye for a good pass, which he appears to deliver on a regular basis

I think Starbuck is more of an attacker than a right-back.  Not quite sure why he seems to be making the majority of his team appearances at right-back, when he looks far more effective further forward.

Completely agree on Idehen.  His progress could be really exciting over the next year or so.
