I trust Paul Hurst to improve us, the second half was an improvement today, but if we do get relegated, this sits with the outgoing board including the bullshitter in chief. No one else.

No it doesn’t... half the season left. The side is excrement and Yes Holloway is largely to blame.
Hurst needs to be ruthless... but if he hasn’t got the players lined up then that’s his fault

ABSOFUCKINLUTELY. What complete tools c.unty and hollow-words are. C.untys endless penny pinching really catching up with us. You can see why puppet day was demanding the season be called off right from the start, their plan was to not need to actually have their football team play football.

I wont blame Hurst if we do go down. This squad is abysmal. It's not going to be easy to recruit the number of quality new players we need in a few short weeks in January.
Whatever happens, we need a total clear out in the summer and start again.

I’m increasingly of the opinion that this season will end as last season did. The combined impact of the new variant and Christmas is going to see cases explode over the next few weeks - I just don’t see it being viable to complete the season. Whether that would mean completing this season in the summer and autumn or a return to the points per game model from last season I don’t know, but there’s definitely a potential scenario whereby we now only have a few games with which to save our league status. I know that’s depressing on several levels, but regrettably I think January could well be a very depressing month.

Yes I worry about that too. But I don't think they would call it on a PPG basis with only half the season gone. More likely the season would be null and void.

Has there been any further news about the EFL investigation in to us failing to fulfill our fixture responsibilities? If they have their vindictive hat on again then we really could be screwed if we lose points...

I was actually encouraged when he said he could split the squad if he can't get some players out. Several players need transfer listing or paying up and if we can't get them out stick them in a shadow squad.
The worst culprits are our so called experienced pros, I have no idea what is up with Bennett, Williams or Rose but they seem well short of the required standard. They've all had decent careers and should be capable of performing much better than they are. Green is beyond shocking and Hanson can't get off the treatment table.
Here's a question, can you de-register a player so that they don't count against the cap number (not salary) if we can't transfer them or they refuse a pay off?

My worry would be that if a decision has to be made after all clubs have played at least 23 matches - then you’d argue that the balance of fairness sits with extrapolating the current table based on PPG. That’s the one approach that the EFL has a precedent for, and it worries me that would be the easiest route to take this time around. With schools now looking like they may not return next week, it’s hard to see football continuing for too much longer after that, particularly in the test-less free for all that is League Two.

Don’t normally disagree but I can’t see anyway a season would be decided with only half the fixtures paid and a transfer window only just opening where clubs have a change their fortunes. I can see a month postponement being introduced in lower leagues and in the position we are would positively welcome it. The worst thing is we have 3 proverbial 6 pointers in the next three weeks and I’d rather these games take place later in the season after we have had the chance to rebuild.

If it keeps getting worse I think the league will suspend for X amount of time until the vaccine kicks in..Missing the rest of Jan may not be a bad idea..financially though it could be a nightmare for some clubs..if only they had players on a covid contract

FFS Codger how so? Can you really not see the damage that Holloway did? The man who stood on camera telling the world that clubs are mad if they dont put Covid clauses in contracts, that led to him assembling the biggest group of garbage we’ve seen in an age. The manager has a budget and signs the players through the CEO, not the directors. Hurst has given you the biggest indicator of that going in today’s interview when he told us that he’s warned Ian (Flem) that he’s about to get very busy (signings) You really should not underestimate the influence that Holloway held over the board. They were putty in his hands, so please don’t sit there telling us that Holloway couldn’t have what he wanted this season. He easy could and he got it all wrong. If Holloway had signed a better group and was knocking on the door of promotion, then there wouldn’t have been a single peep out of the fans moaning about the board. They’d have all still been buying flat caps, loving the ride and leaving the board alone. I doubt there would have even been half of the fuss about the Alex May debacle. Holloway is 100% responsible for Town being in a relegation battle. Nobody else

They were putty in his hands? Laughable. They are the custodians - they appointed him! They’ve had years, decades even, and learned Jack all. Absolutely pathetic.

In a world where there are some understated, hard working managers that don’t yearn for the media spotlight, Ian Holloway is the total opposite
The most important thing in Ian Holloway’s world is Ian Holloway
He didn’t work hard enough, he didn’t work cute enough and he certainly didn’t work quickly enough
He failed in epic proportions

Agree. However, who appointed him? To the board as well?

Good point. So, yes we need to improve really quickly! I suspect Covid is going to explode over the next month.

If we get relegated like everyone I’ll be completely gutted. I guess the only consolation we’ll be that we have a manager who knows what it takes to get a side out of the National League.

not that it affects us personally but with the re-arranged euros at the end of the season, does anyone think delaying the season is possible or that the euros are fated to be cancelled totally?

Euro’s will all depend on the success of the vaccine not only in UK but throughout Europe and it’s pretty much touch and go as are the Olympics. In respect of the Olympics how competitors are expected to prepare properly only the good lord knows but probably not too many Olympic records will be broken if it does take place.

Everything that needed doing is now done. Hurst's had a few months to identify players worth signing. He's always had an eye for players and his knowledge of the players at this level is excellent. I always think most managers have a few good signings in them just from their residual knowledge from when they took the job. Apart from Holloway who literally knew nothing, apart from the laws of the games (and I bet he's never even read them).
