Remember hearing on here that one of the consortium member is the son of John Petit of Petit's butchers.
Just had a slight thought/worry which someone might be able to shed some light on.
Do we know for sure he is the butcher's son?
If he is, indeed, the butcher's son, and is supposedly a wealthy investor, rich enough to put money into the club and push us forward etc, why would he have allowed his father/family business of 125 years to go out if business?
This doesn't give off the 'wealthy investor' rolling in surplus, expendable cash....
For the record I am incredibly excited by the prospect of the takeover etc, I'm just trying to iron out a few questions/concerns.
The last thing I want is for the club to end up less financially stable.

He's made his money away from Grimsby - the butcher's business had been taken over by John Pettit's son in law some time ago.
I don't see what relevance this is to the takeover.

Yes, we know he's the butcher's son.
Savvy businessmen don't keep unviable businesses going and we don't even know if he had anything to do with his Dad's business. He's part of a real estate investment company and solicitor by trade so probably isn't bringing the wonga to the party, but has other expertise that can be useful. Chill your beans brother, Town aren't going to the dogs because John Pettit butchers went out of business 3 years ago.

Regardless of how much cash any of Shutes, Stockwood or Pettit have lying down the back of the sofa surely the aim is for the club to become sustainable without the reliance on a single benefactor?

That was Fenty’s plan. However, he didn’t bring forward thinking ideas for investment into the club, meaning we were always stuck with a relatively low budget.

When I first left school I wanted to be a butcher (nothing like what I do now) I wrote to John Pettit who though he didn’t have any vacancies invited me down to his shop to talk me through what it was like and what I’d need to learn, the reality of the early mornings, cleaning down etc.. etc..
He then got on the phone to one of his mates in the trade who he thought may have a vacancy, so I went over there and the chap offers me a job that day, trainee apprentice kind of thing.
In the end I didn’t end up starting as I got offered something else but John Pettit took time to take an interest in me as I’d taken the time to write to him, at the time I thought he was very kind and to this day still do.

I went into Pettits once at Christmas. They were having their works party. Staff were dancing and singing. The joint was jumping.

I'm just glad he was able to meat fenty's demands. Will be good to see the back of Fenty especially after the cheek he showed in trying to get a convicted fraudster to invest.
If we can bring in a striker that doesn't shank it wide , that'll be a big boost for us, though first we need to fillet out the weak players in the squad. Let's just hope we'll all be standing shoulder to shoulder at a game soon. We need to get our rumps back on those seats!
Maybe a bid to bring amond back? Though I'm not sure with our relegation threat, he'd want to brisk-it??

It was mentioned several times by different people regarding the takeover that TWO of the trio were very wealthy.
Im guessing that they were talking about Shutes and Stockwood. Pettit is a true GTFC fan and so if he is prepared to be part of the Holy Trinity, and Shutes and Stockwood value his input, then who are we to argue?

Not going to be a popular opinion I know, but find it a bit boring/irritating when clicking on a post thread and finding it full of puns like on this thread. Perhaps a separate subsection could be created for puns (like the Non Footy one on here).
I like humour as much as anyone, but would prefer to not trawl through a bunch of puns when reading opinions about the actual post subject.

Rough figures, and taken from companies house website; Pettit net worth 130M, Stockley net worth 50M, Shutes net worth -3M, even if they aren't entirely accurate, as suggested by someone on an earlier post, I think its safe to say they are minted! Obviously I wouldn't expect them to start slinging cash at it, just because they have it, but if they could stump up 30M or so it would be very gratefully received!!!

Companies House figures are a) inaccurate and B) related to the Net Asset Value of entire business'. Yes, being a director of a private company tends to equal large shareholding, but in the case of say Stockwood, just because he's a director of simply business does not mean he got anywhere near the 500m it sold for . Fairly sure he is someone, who throughout his career has managed to raise large sums from funding, backing from rich individuals/venture capitalists to fund his projects/businesses. Being a director in this instance, he won't have a particularly large shareholding, and the majority of any profit he will have made would have come in the form of a performance based bonus/ the fact he 'drew in' the business /sale. As for companies House, one of the key floors is that with Petit for instance, the NAV of the firms he is director of is multiplied due to the same company being listed under different names, dissolved and branched out. It's fairly typical with commercial property /investment (which I work in). In terms of people's net worth, again these are incredibly inaccurate. Several close family members of mine, when looked up on these websites have their 'net worths' wrong by between 1m and 60m . Sometimes it's an under-valuation, sometimes it's over. My point is, it's incredibly inaccurate. A friend sold one of his private business of which he was the majority shareholder for near 100m recently, yet companies House gives him a negative net worth , which I know as a categorical fact to be completely wrong...
