Could us fans take over the club with the help of the mariners trust.
Lincoln moved forward with a fans owned club. Why not us?
We've shown in the past when the money is needed for anything we can collectively raise it. We can elect our own people to take care of the financial obligations and this would ensure more than ever that the club is our own community and say good riddens to the current greed and gentlemans club that is our current board.
I know it will be harder than it seems but can it be done

I think it could be done but it's no quick fix, I honestly think it's a few years hard slog.

Anyone on here an expert on company structures that could be used as a vehicle for this?

I've always wanted a fan owned club and would help In any way I could. Would put money in a start up fund and a monthly direct debit.

The stumbling block is the initial capital. Most fan owned clubs come about when no one else comes forward and they don't have to buy out the incumbent.

That's what I mean about it being a long slog Ginny,  given that he wants every penny back I think realistically it'll take a good few years to put that sort of money together.

Doable though in the medium term, call it something like GTFC2025. Set out a vision and a membership charter, paid membership subscription equating to equity in the new venture.  Spend the next few years fund raising and trying to raise the profile. Then eventually, buy Fenty out.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if Shutes and co move forwards but I don't think they will now.

The alternative.... we support JFFC, might as well call it that because  I can't ever see him getting his money back and in another 17 years we will be in exactly the same place we are now.

£2.4m JF pay off plus working capital and a slush fund for a downturn in fortunes.. more like a minimum of £4m..

It's a no from me I'm afraid. New training ground, new stadium etc etc etc

You can't run a football club by committee,  it just wouldn't work. Elect aboard of directors who are answerable to the fans would be chaos. You only have to look at the differing views on here to gauge how difficult it would be to run the club. Loose a game and the knives would be out. And then there's the small matter of money, who pays what, etc etc.

The long term vision of the trust should be to have a controlling interest in the club. It doesn’t mean running it by committee, the right people could be put in place, but now the ambition should be to raise enough capital to oust Fenty ourselves.

I'll pass. The last time I saw that slogan was on a Mike Newell T-shirt.

The vehicle is there. The Trust is a public interest company. Every member has one share in it. The Trust already has a substantial shareholding. But as Ginny says, it will cost a lot to buy out Fenty.

Best strategy is to boycott, save your money, for the rainy day.

That’s not how it works. You have a board of directors empowered to run the company. Same as any company.

It works in the real world. Newport, Exeter and Wimbledon all arguably smaller clubs than Town are consistently doing better than us on the pitch. Exeter have redeveloped their ground s as nd Wimbledon have built a new one after starting with a village team 18 years ago.

Sounds very much like you fancy yourself as the new Fenty in a fans owned set up. I refuse to spend another penny and will boycott everything about Grimsby Town while you are in charge
