Why does Ollie always has to use all 5 substitutes?

Because we are cr@p.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

He used 4 against Scunny. IMHO it's a symptom of having too many people to keep happy. Do they get an appearance fee for coming on?

I think Gary Croft nailed it when he said why are we continuing to bring these players on as subs that never do anything ?
We’re poor in depth , we’ve got shite players throughout the whole squad .
I’d ship 20 out and try and recruit 10 that know how to play

We’ve got a few decent young players who could be good in a few years, problem is there’s too many of them and they’re not up to the standard just yet. I’m talking about the likes of Preston, Edwards, Gibson, Jackson Jr, Spokes, Tilley, Taylor, Morton, Gomis, there’s probably more. It’s ok having 1 or 2 of these types of players when you’ve got some quality experience around to help them but we haven’t even got much of that at the minute either. Too many average youngsters mixed with poor declining older ones is a recipe for disaster. Huge January coming up!

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

I’d send all the loanees home and concentrate on developing the 4 above for the future and sign at least 6 experienced players to get us to safety . Green and Hanson shown the door .

If you look at all five substitutes they were excrement and confusing by IH
Green did nothing - Gibson at least won his headers and unsettled the CHs
Edwards huffed and puffed, in and out the game - Jackson the same.
Bennett second half was running the midfield - Tilly did nothing really
Morais my mom and could have easily lasted the last few minutes- Starbuck sorry son I would find yeself a job outside football.
Rose - Preston, what was the point?

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

We very rarely make substitutions that have a positive effect, but today they definitely had a negative effect as we lost all momentum, and it was hard to work out our system or shape for the final 30 minutes
Crofty sounded really despondent tonight when talking about some of the players and how they should be stepping up more, he generally tries to look for the positives, but like many fans he was struggling to find much hope tonight

Mostly agree, but would keep Preston (despite his critics) as no other options

We bought cheap, young  and we bought plenty.  We are now seeing the results.

The experienced pros have by and large been injured , unfit , inconsistent and the newer older pro's have largely been to pre reported type unfortunately, coming with a reputation of that inconsistency and proving it.

Morais, the very latest recruit seems to be offering the most promise....was he the kind of signing Holloway wanted in the summer but budget/covid clauses etc prevented attracting that sort of calibre ? Could the "money no object" new approach give Ollie the freedom to get who he wants and who his new talent scout is identifying ?

Based on signings to date i am not feeling too confident about the January window , but in reality can we sign much worse ?

Bennett sees plenty of the ball but what does he do with it?

The one decent pass forward into their area came from Spokes.

The only loanee who is showing signs of ability is Bennett, though not sure how much of his £4k a week we contribute to so whether we get value for money is another thing.

Preston/Edwards started brightly but offer not a lot now, especially Preston who doesn't seem to be up to this level.

Green at 34 seems shot through and as for Hanson, well he may as well have retired during the summer.

We have to develop the young lads who are here on the payroll but playing two raw lads up top who were plying their trade 3 levels below last season shows how weak we are in that department.

Will Pierre Fonkeu be the answer? I very much doubt it given what he has achieved thus far, when you look at the experienced heads Bradford have at their disposal up top then it becomes clear what is missing.
