Can anyone involved in enforcing, or with knowledge of lockdown rules advise me what the situation is with having a guest at a public venue?

Asking for a friend like. As London is heading into Tier 3, and you folks in NE Lincs have experience of Tier 3 already, you’re one step ahead already.

Suppose a businessman friend (no names) wanted to invite a business associate to an event, in oooh, let’s say a sports stadium, would my friend be able to or would that be a breach of the rules? The host would be in the stadium in an official capacity, but the guest is well just a guest. Would the host get his collar felt by the boys in blue?

Anyone got any experience in this field?

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

I’m guessing that he was there on business not his eagerness to watch two poor league two teams play

To be fair I don’t think this is the only time GTFC or a football club have broken the rules.

Weren’t several fans let in last week in some made up capacity? It was certainly confirmed by them on the GTFC supporters Facebook group.

To be fair I have an issue with that, who the intercourse decides which Tom, male private or Harry can go in?

For me I think it’s clear someone at the club wasn’t happy with this chap being around or showing an interest so they let the telegraph know and boom! Here we are...

I think technically speaking it's a breach.  Although anyone with half a brain could run riot on any legal intervention into this as the rulings are so weak.

Let's face it though, there's no chance of legal intervention into this.

Obviously the bigger picture is why have we allowed a chancer like this to enter talks...but like many I've got a genuine issue with the club letting someone in to watch games when so many have paid for a season ticket and are getting nothing but a one camera feed and a free calendar.  Granted, everyone knew the risk but I don't think anyone would have reasonably expected the club to start inviting random people in as their guests.

Just another example of the contempt shown really.

Think the loophole would be that this was a prospective business meeting and rules about these appear even more woolly than most. However, this would require the board to admit they were considering doing business with Mr May so it appears they may be stuck between a rock and a hard place in explaining his attendance.

By this reckoning if I email the club saying I wish to acquire a “small amount of shares” can I go to the Scunny game?

It's all OK. They've been in the same bubble for two years..... 😂

You are only allowed to travel into a tier 3 area if you have a valid reason, one of which is for business. So I guess he had a legitimate reason, as we were clearly about to accept his filthy lucre.

I think most clubs in L2 have bent the rules one way and another, Forest Green at our away game apparently had all the exec boxes in use and serving drink and food

Looking at the Youngs/Stones/Findus stand, to the right of the Town directors would be the away directors who are allowed to travel and attend games as do our directors.

I have one share too and I'm hanging on until someone gets control of a large enough % of shares to have to make an offer on it

Why hide behind " asking for a friend "? Buy a GET with the evidence and then ring the police and make a complaint. The ball is in your court if you believe there has been a breach of Covid protocols and you have evidence. These are not my words, but asking for a friend

As reported Mr May was going to make a million pound investment in town by buying shares, I would sell him mine for half that, that would leave him some dosh to take Ollie to Steels for a fish supper.
