Completely inadequate. No explanation regarding why he feels it appropriate to deal with this individual and what his involvement is with the club.

Also, when did they stop being business partners? Was it today after the kick off?

We know all this.
The question is 'why was he at the games'?

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

So he’s told us nothing we didn’t already know.

Although, if Mr May is involved in anyway, setting up a company in Liverpool is a bit close to his old stomping ground don’t ya think?

Says nothing. Absolutely no reason as to why Mr May was at BP yesterday. If they aren’t trading together, why is he at the game?

So why was he at BP then?
Why was it so important that he broke COVID rules to be there?
Why, if it’s nothing to do with football John do the Trust want nothing to do with him?
If it’s as simple as you say John why has it taken all this time to release a statement?
Why has it been kept a big secret that May has been to BP on 4 occasions?
Why did you as deputy leader of the council and main shareholder at GTFC associate your self of a man convicted of fraud against the elderly?
Why John are you still associated with the club after years and years of utter failure??

Once again the man has shown just how much contempt he has for folk...not just town fans this time but the electorate.

If he’s been talking to his solicitor all day to get that statement right then I’d suggest he sacks the girl private. It offers nothing of clarity or reason.

And where does Blundell Park Projects fit into this? Bare faced Tory lies. The sort of people that are so blinded by pound signs they either don’t know or don’t care about the optics.

In Grimsby, we know when something smells fishy.

Oh dear A little like those six monthly statements he used to put out without engaging his brain first.

All the important questions remain unanswered in respect of GTFC and no mention of why he would go into business, albeit allegedly in developments in the North West, with a man who is a convicted fraudster

That is a very weak statement. He will be pressed and pressed for more information from the media, the voters and Town fans so he better up his game.

One thing though - he says he has got building interests all over the place. He is doing all that, he is (at least for the moment!) deputy leader of the council so would not this be the absolute ideal time to agree a deal to leave GTFC for good??

I am naive about money, as money does not interest me at all, but it sounds as if he has a few bob coming in - does he really need every penny back from the club?  I have said this before, but can't he accept a reasonable amount paid back in instalments and sail off into the sunset allowing someone else to come in?

I’m still no wiser than I was at this time yesterday.

I get that he no longer co owns this businesses with this gentleman but what JF does in his business affairs is non of my concern.

I am not pro or anti JF... I am pro GTFC. And when people become involved with the club at senior senior level it causes a great level of intrigue. Many of us here and myself included are shareholders and therefore it is in our interests to know who is making the decisions on our ‘investment’.

But it’s wider than that though isn’t it? All of us here minus the trolls have invested time and money and well, much of their lives on what is our club.

All we want to bloody know is why a guy of questionable morality is having a certain influence at our effing club. That’s all.

The ONLY way things will truly change at our club is when the club changes hands. I think it’s apparent that that needs to be sooner than later.

I don’t understand why JF will not sell the club. From what I understand, the decision not to sell to Shutes was down to that there no proof he could find the club.

But who funds the club now? The fans don’t they? No new money has been put into this club for a while now so what bloody difference does it make. The club more or less funds itself.

So as a politicians response its perfect. Say a lot without actually saying anything. He knows what the fans are worried about, and it would have been easy to say May is not investing in, or looking to be a part of, the club, but its telling that he didn't.

If JF has no ties with the conman why was he there yesterday it what context  is he sitting in the Directors section or was her clearing out his locker before vacating the premises after he'd been exposed by the Telegragh. I am sure the the supporter would like a more of a transparent explanation Mr Fenty after all it's our club as well

To be fair he’s not actually  done anything wrong as far as I can see , I’m sure this isn’t the first business associate he’s invited to the games and let’s face it most people with a few million in the bank have bent the rules somewhere along the way .
The problem is if this guy had any intentions of taking over or being invoked in running if our club ?
Even if he was used as an advisor on the ground relocation I wouldn’t  be bothered , without getting too excited all Fenty had to do is tell us what he’s doing at Blundell park as it doesn’t look like the Board know anything

Does not answer the question , why was he in the ground watching a game of football when the law has stoped the public from entering football grounds at our tier level. Season ticket holders must be spitting bricks over this. I hope the police have gotton hold of this and are going to persue it like they would if you had a brake light out on your car or droped some litter .

The more I think about it the lore I think this has a wider damaging effect to Fenty’s political career than it does GTFC.

Granted, it shows more contempt for the fans and a disregard for anyone but politically this could have a severe effect. Even if his business dealings with this chap are legit (regardless of reform, I’m not sure I’d want him anywhere near and potential investment), the publicity and backlash it brings surely isn’t worth it?

If, as some have pointed out, this is legit and he’s been hoodwinked then that concerns me further.

The statement does not thing address anything of importance, although it does actually drop him in it.

It’s a flipping mess, once again the alleged custodians of the club have been a shambles and we trundle on...you can hear the conversation now “if we shut out eyes and just carry on, it’ll go away”...I hope this time it doesn’t. For the town fans and the electorate.

I'm sorry John but as a man who has lead an honest life and worked hard, as the vast majority of loyal Town supporters have, I cannot contemplate the kind of man who would rob elderly people; and not a few by the money invoived.

To do that this man is the lowest of the low and has no place in the Director's box at our club and his presence is tarnishing your reputation and all the other directors.

That’s just not good enough.

These are serious and just concerns the fans have, who are the major investors in the club- both emotionally and financially by the way- as much as you will hate this, Grimsby Town FC is not just the john Fenty show you know. You you have just ignored them with a statement only aimed at keeping your role as a councillor. Show us some respect.

If Fenty is going to ignore us. Over to you Philip Day. Why were you entertaining this fraudster at BP?  What plans do you have on getting this con man and scum bag involved in our club?

To be fair he’s not actually  done anything wrong as far as I can see , I’m sure this isn’t the first business associate he’s invited to the games and let’s face it most people with a few million in the bank have bent the rules somewhere along the way .
The problem is if this guy had any intentions of taking over or being invoked in running if our club ?
Even if he was used as an advisor on the ground relocation I wouldn’t  be bothered , without getting too excited all Fenty had to do is tell us what he’s doing at Blundell park as it doesn’t look like the Board know anything

Apart from the lack of judgment......
...., the guy had no business being in the football ground  (4times) when thousands of fans are banned.

Dominic Cummings scandal all over again. One rule for us....

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

Fenty is a Poundland Mike Ashley
I used to be 50/50 about him
Who else will take over?
But changed totally in past few months

Many clubs have survived through being community/fans run etc

He is dragging our beloved GTFC through the mud

All of this in the week we paid tribute to the late, great Matt Tees - a man of honour and club legend
What a stain Fenty is on our club

this whole 'MayGate' situation aside I respect JF for keeping the club afloat during the early years of his tenure. I'm sure we all do. But in those 15 or so years, the club has not progressed in the slightest and some could argue that it has in fact regressed.

It is those 15 years above alone that tells us that perhaps time for his custodianship to come to an end. He has given it his all and it hasn't worked out for any of us least of all him.  I base that on the fact the club owes him a significant amount of money.

Maybe, just maybe the right thing to do is for him to publically set out the terms for his departure. If the fans could pull off a minor miracle and raise these funds under the stewardship of the Trust then it would be for the fans to actively seek longterm leadership. It hasn't worked out too badly for Wrexham has it?

In some peoples view Marxist is anybody who is not a fascist.

Absolutely his money kept us going but no one puts their own money into a struggling (then) third tier club, reasonably expecting to get it back. A club in a deprived area with a crumbling ground and little real chance of growth. It's now just an albatross, as is he. He can afford property projects in 3 different towns, he'll be alright.

I always thought that a man’s character was judged by the friends he kept. (Or even business partners).

There are not many headlines worse than “No Deal Brexit” but “A John Fenty Statement “ is one of them.

His timing is bad and in trying to explain anything he manages to muddy the waters more and leaves the reader with more questions than answers.

At least he isn’t running our football club.

Are you 'aving a laugh, we are talking about a convicted conman who ripped off the elderly.

To be fair, he didn’t rip off the elderly. His gang ripped off mortgage and finance companies. Still a scumbag thing to do.
