So the outfield skipper thread got me thinking, who was your favourite from this list?

Not a debate on who was the best as they all made a difference but just your personal favourite please?

It’s Joe for me but when you look at the line up it’s a tough call.

Shaun cunnington was such a favourite of mine as he was a hard illegitimate skipper in a successful side when i started supporting town. But disley really cared about the club, so difficult to choose between them!

Have to exclude the top two in the list since both were before my time, so went for Cunnington.

God that’s like asking which of my 3 wives is the best!!!

Worthington —. Always had a tan, 100% commitment and more than decent full back. Obviously those of us who witnessed 71/72 will always have a soft spot for this team and their captain.

Waters—- Remember writing to the telegraph, and having the letter printed, after we ended his loan spell saying we must sign him. Subsequently sent my paper round money in to help the fund to buy him and he was the fulcrum of that group of local players who were a pleasure to watch and took us to the upper reaches of the now Championship. Superb player.

Cunnington —— Probably the piece of the Buckley jigsaw that brought that team together. Like Waters was tireless in midfield scoring some valuable goals and another great period in our history.

Groves —- Club legend, hardly missed a game, scored for fun and gave 100% every match. Led us to promotion and nobody who was there will ever forget those first two trips to Wembley.

Disloyal — Great club man, led by example, weighed in with a few important goals and not afraid to put his foot in. Shame his time with town was mainly spent in non league as he deserved to grace BP as part of a team in higher leagues. A key component of the clubs spirit during this period and our best signing during conference days.

After considering everything I will go for Waters. When he joined we were similar to where we are now and apparently going nowhere. The period 78 to 84/85 was some of the best days at BP so it’s Joey boy for me.

Disloyal?

Saw all of those, all fantastic players and captains but I just loved Joe Waters, so him.

Could have picked any of them though.

Joey Waters.....what a great time that was to be a Town fan.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

As a player, probably Joe. As an inspirational captain, probably Groves.

Cunnington for me. Him and cockers were brilliant. Would run through a brick wall for us.
