Don't be so precious, it's called opinion and debate and it's not about budging, why should I have to bow down or budge on my opinions or thoughts. You have yours and quite rightly so, I will argue a point if I believe in my opinion in the same way you do. Fir what it's worth, Alerdyce and Redknapp come from an area where desks were done on the golf course and a spit in the palm sealed a deal. Any England player bringing the game into disrepute should be handed a ban of X amount of games and dropped for qualifying games and tournaments closest to the date of their misdemeanor, I'll eat humble pie if we make to any major final under Southgate but I just feel he's got a crop of seriously talented players and isn't getting the best out of them.
Did anyone ask you to bow down? Just not sure why you feel you have to “argue” a point.

With a bit of good fortune, Maguire will fall well down the pecking order. Southgate selects players on how well they perform for England. Maguire’s light should be dimming. Please take Pickford with you.
What a contrast with our performance and result last night.

And Trippier as well I think
Losing Chilwell and Trippier before this match reminded me of the sense of doom I had when Peter Handyside broke his ankle pre-season and we knew he was out for the rest of the campaign.

Being an international manager is about winning one off games. There may be a lot of them but they are one off in that defeat virtually means the team is out of a competition, a win means carry on lads.
Southgate will never be an international manager as long as he has a waistcoat, stubble and an orifice in his posterior. He has so little nous on tactics it is untrue and now he has taken the Hurst stance and been stubborn to the point of idiocy. The sad part is that anyone in Middlesbrough could have said this years ago. Everyman and his dog knew what sort of game it would be as soon as the team was announced. If you want to win games you have to take a risk in selection and playing style.
Worth remembering that Alf Ramsey, not noted as a risk taker, was the first England manager to take a chance on Bobby Charlton who could not tackle a fishing rod in centre midfield.
Arm round the shoulder, be good lads, hard luck ..... does not wash in international tournaments. Score goals, put the opposition on the back foot, win games and gather confidence. Denmark and Belgium are average sides and we should be walloping them.

Hmmm not sure about that Ron If they are 'average' who are the top sides?

Not particularly speaking comparatively here Swin, Belgium lost to England and played a very mediocre standard. Denmark were no better and they won. I just have this feeling that if these results had been “achieved” by the likes of Big Sam this thread would have been full of calls for his head on a platter. Southgate seems to have charmed people into accepting the same crap time after time - small games great , big games hopeless.

I wouldn't disagree, I am still totally amazed and in total disbelief about the 'Southgate love-in' based on the last World Cup. As usual in a country devoid of success (a bit like when Town do well) there was a surge of totally over the top celebration, expectation and hero worship following a number of dreary wins against moderate opposition before being found out when it mattered. Our golden boot winning striker must be the first in history to win the award on penalties. Southgate is grey (and there is only one shade not 50), the football is grey, boring and predictable. Nothing has changed 90% of passes still go across the park or backwards, totally uninteresting and the fans should realise how lucky they are that thanks to Covid they aren't actually there in person to suffer it. I still maintain Belgium are one of the world's top sides but we bored them to death and won with yet another penalty and a fluke deflection
