Thought he deserved his own thread. It wouldn't be fair or sensible to talk about what he may or may not go onto achieve on the basis of a substitute appearance in the EFL Cup, but to make your senior debut and score before your sixteenth birthday is an achievement in its own right. On the night Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 100th international goal too; something to aspire to there, lad. Incidentally they just spoke about Louis and Ronaldo in the same sentence on Sky Sports News; not bad going. A question now. I know he broke Tony Ford's record for the youngest senior appearance for Town, but before last night who was the youngest ever goalscorer?

The achievement of the lads last night is not to be underestimated, they competed and over penalties beat a Harrogate team consisting of grown men, it was men against boys literally and the boys got the better off them.
Neil Woods and the rest of the academy staff deserve so much credit and they should be feeling very proud today as they have moulded these lads

Might be Tony Ford, but Paul Wilkinson came on and also scored a screamer against Charlton. He was only 17 ish.
Under 16 and to score is the stuff of legends, well done young man, I hope you continue your rise to the top and have an illustrious career, with Town and maybe one of the top clubs.

Crazy to think he’s probably sat in a double maths lesson right now! Hope he did his homework when he got in last night! Hats off to the lad, he’s clearly done enough to catch Ollie’s eye and rounded it off with some great footwork and a precision finish, well done Louis. Hopefully now he can get his head down, finish his education and grow as a young footballer at this club without any added pressure that might come from his exploits last night.

Probably only on as a late sub as not got home from school, changed and travelled to the match in time to start. Never mind doing his homework and drying the dishes.

Have to say I have no recollection of that but seem to recall Peter Bore only being 17 when he scored on his debut v Boston United.

Came on as a sub and completely changed the game, scored two and I seem to remember he set up the third. I do wonder if that game actually was a bad start in a way. It got everyones expectations up and when he didn't deliver every week a section of the fans turned on him.

It still blows my mind that he scored. I'd learnt many of our youth team's names over the summer — the likes of Starbuck, Hope, Idehen — so for a kid to come in, get on the pitch and score, from a level below those guys, is incredible.
He earned a chance and he took it. Can't do any more than that. He's probably too young to understand what he's just done! This club has existed since 1878, is it? And he's become our youngest appearance holder and goalscorer in one moment last night.
Gives hope to so many other youngsters in and around our club at the moment. One goal could change our whole future (in terms of youth academy). Makes it an easier conversation for Woodsie to have, the next time he's persuading some parents to let their kid come and join our club.

The big guns with their fancy academies will be circling as we speak. They can hoover up any youngster that shows a glimmer of ability and buy them up for a pittance, in the hope that one or two make it.

This ^ its a shame but we will probably lose him for a pittance to a big club

side stepped the first challenge nicely, extra touch to put it on his left and boom ! Guess he is predominantly a lefty but certainly didnt panic with the first challenge or in setting it first before the strike...at just under 16yrs thats a cool head on young shoulders. Last time i played a game at BP i got a chance from about 6yds out, absolutley panicked and snatched it over the bar.......and that was only in a charity match

Well Pete that would certainly make Kevin our youngest scorer as he would have been 14 in 1974! Pretty sure I played against Terry Donovan in Lincs League after 1974 when he was playing for Louth Reserves but time dims the memory. I certainly played against him at school in 1973 when he was at Clee Grammar and I was at De Aston as they thrashed us 7-0.

I think this is the right game. Was the last match of the season and Drinkell - aged 16 - scored them both iirc.

Well according to Wiki Terry was born in 1958 so they were never 16 at the same time albeit if they did score in that game both would have been teenagers.

Kevin Drinkell was two "school years" younger than Terry Donovan. I was in the same sixth form as Terry and when we were 18 we played a Whitgift under 16s team which included Kev Drinkell. That Whitgift team included several excellent local footballers who played later for Crows Nest in the Sunday League. I'm pretty sure Terry didn't sign for Town until after our A-Levels so summer of 76. He certainly didn't sign whilst at school. He was playing for Louth United.

Thanks Barra thought He played for Louth in Lincs League when I played against them for Market Rasen, thought it was 76 so my memory is still intact for now. Let’s all hope this crop of youngsters does as well for town as the Donovan, Drinkell era but no doubt any signs of promise from these young lads will see them gobbled up by the Academy systems from Premiership and Championship clubs a la Burrell.

I'm not so sure this is a good idea!

Just seen his interview on the OS after his presentation from Philip Day. With that haircut you could say he played a Peaky Blinder. Where did I leave that coat........

You mean that he is a cut above his peers?
He hasn’t peaked yet and has a razor sharp wit.

Well done to the lad, he’s earned his opportunity. It certainly sends the right message to the aspiring youngsters at the club (and perhaps elsewhere) that if you put the hard work in here you’ll get your chance. I can’t exactly remember what I was doing at 15, but I’m pretty sure it involved smoking quite a lot of weed and watching low fidelity porn videos over dial up internet. I may have broken off every now and then to microwave me some Micro Chips, but I sure as shít wasn’t fulfilling my childhood dreams. Savour every moment Louis. Give it your best. You can’t do any more than that.
