Wigan Athletic: Administrators set 31 August deadline to sell club
According to administrators if they don’t sell they may not start the season
Another Bury situation may happen

I'd be surprised, they have far more playing assets, already sold moore dunkley and gelhardt, others bound to go, and still have a large enough squad to continue, and a much bigger average gate than bury too.

I don’t expect Wigan to disappear like Bury. Aren’t Charlton subject to a similar thing too?

Perhaps but you can only sell the family silver once and with the exception of Burnley the North west fan base can quickly go elsewhere. Wigan had  a lot of season ticket holders that were not necessarily true Wigan fans but bought season tickets to enable them to watch “premier “ football Really cheaply a town fan that sat next to me at blundell Park actually had one for himself and son

I met a drag queen from Greater Manchester once.

He had a Wigan address.

They also have apauling owners who took them over, placed them in adminstration within a month and got them relegated. Many people say it was done on purpose to relegate them for far east betting syndicates. Selling all the assets, is that going to disappear into a black hole? I'd be concerned if I was a Wigan fan. The EFL have played a blinder again.

The thing about Wigan that makes them different is that they were in profit and living well within their means until new owners came in. I do not for the life of me understand how they have gone into administration so quickly.

It stinks!

A large town, but a rugby league town, has their football club bankrolled to some success, the owner then changes/loses interest, football club drops like a stone, the locals go back to watching rugby.

Could be Wigan, could be Hull. Maybe you could say Salford are on this path now...

I’d say good riddance to all of those. Harsh, but they’re all charlatans.
