There are some wise old heads on here with far better knowledge than me. So, Hess I thought, over the season was our most consistent player. Good at sitting, had a reasonable tackle and good pass on occasion when needed. If he lost the ball he made every effort to win it back. I'm sure there was more to him leaving than just been released. On the other hand I've read as much as I can about George Williams but not seen him play that I remember. Although only a squad member  at Euros he was there. What's the wise heads opinion.

Hess was a defensive midfielder but Williams is an attacking midfielder, or at least he is described that way. I see Williams as replacing Whitehouse rather than Hess.

A player who’s played for Wales  at a major finals or a lower league journeyman . That’s a difficult one .

I would hardly describe a 26 year old footballer who has only been signed by 3 clubs as a "journeyman", especially as the first of those clubs, Chelsea, was where he developed through their youth system.

Agree - he also played 181 times for L1 Gillingham over 5 years before he joined us.
