I think that broadly speaking, the amount/position that you spend should reflect your final league position.  As I said, broadly speaking.

The aim of securing supposedly better players  through agents’ fees, is to improve your league position. a

Surprised we paid more in agent fees than FGR to be honest after the way Vince is splashing the cash.

Football agents are leeches. They shouldn't be allowed.. They have stolen £62000 from us. They are talentless, yet they get paid when a player signs for a club. I bet there are a few earn a lot more than they declare.

I agree that they take money from the game but then other professions have them too. The issue is regulation of the agents. I believe to some extent anyone could set themselves up as an agent...

One has to wonder why players aren’t able to negotiate their own contracts, moreover, GTFC must’ve known the price so to speak, let’s face it, we’re not spending a lot, of anything on players transfer fees so it gives an insight in to the signing on fees we’re handing out.

Wasn’t there a suggestion that many of towns players were with the same agent/agency?

As mentioned, although broadly speaking, one would imagine that the more spent on fees would suggest a higher calibre of player so it’s disappointing for town to have the season we had, similar to Mansfield...

Absolutely old hat dog whistle twaddle you're talking here. It's up to the player if he wants an agent to represent him or not. Much like any one of us hiring a gardener or cleaner to do a few hours or using an employment agency to get work, estate agent to sell a house etc. The amount of football agents fees paid out, even though physically paid for by the club on the odd occasion, come out of whatever the gross wage or contractual demands are of the player. Believe it or not, helluva lot of players rely on their agents for a great many things so they can, you know, concentrate on what they do best, the playing football side of things, which is what most fans would want, isn't it? "Football agents are leeches" is a very derogatory term for a wide ranging group of people who are actually really valued by the players that hire them and are the ones that actually pay for their services. That 62k Town paid out would be in a footballer's pocket if there weren't any agents, not in the club's bank account. It represents how a deal is configured rather than additional cost.. But hey, stealing, talentless leeches and a few earn a lot more than they declare will play up to an ignorant and ill-informed Stone Age audience won't it?

We should take a long look at whatever Crewe are doing. To have such an excellent season by spending only £3k is brilliant work.

i understand the need for agents by the players my biggest gripe is they aren't paid by the players, yet the club have to pay them.  Like using your analogy you dont hire a gardener and expect someone else to pay for his service, its the only job i know that someone else pays there wage.  Its wrong in my eyes.

Whether you think it's wrong or not is irrelevant. What they do is legal, is obviously required (nobody is forced to use an agent) and is a factor in modern day football. Town could say no to agents but obviously don't.
There's another reason why players use agents, a proportion of them are too thick or disinterested to do their own negotiations and management.

A side note, the club are trumpeting how much is being raised through new share sales and the crowdfunding initiative (especially on Twitter) and telling us how amazing we are for supporting the club in difficult times......but it has currently raised around the same amount as the club paid to agents in the table above.
