Idea taken off another forum:

Mine was the mistake of going to the Cheltenham home game at BP in November.

Long story short I got picked out wrongly by Comsec agents and missed some of the match as I was escorted by the stewards like a criminal in front of the home fans to stadium manager Nick Dale.

Worst experience I've had in over 40 years of following Town and I've had a few.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Probably getting a kicking at Burnley in the semi final.
Was living in Burnley at the time and got into home end with a couple of lads from my local at the time.
Anyway word got out I was town and after second goal went in got a pasting for my troubles and spent 3 nights in the hospital.

Lesson learnt don’t go into inbreeds home end and celebrate without thinking

Defo not going to the Liverpool game despite having a ticket. It was peeing it down, I had a bad day at work and decided to give it a miss as we were obviously going to lose anyway.

Got to be either the long coach journey to Cardiff for the playoff final to watch us basically give Cheltenham promotion or Nuneaton away on the tuesday before FA trophy final to watch our players not really giving a toss and trying not to get injured and just give nuneaton 3 points

Not going to the 2nd leg of the Burnley semi-final as I didn't feel very well on the day.

Either that or having to watch that shower of excrement performance at Burton that afternoon. I know we'd still have gone down had we won but most of the players that day didn't give a excrement.

Never felt so low following town before and gleefully since.

Missing the game at Wembley when we beat Northampton Town 24/05/1998, I got married on the 23rd May (day before) and was on honeymoon in Ambleside, I did get to watch the game though in a pub full of friendly Northampton fans, the atmosphere at Wembley sounded fantastic that day, I really regret missing that game.

I was dating a lass who was a 7th day Adventist.  I took her back to Gy for  the weekend.  They have their sabbath on a Saturday, so my idea was to drop her off and go to the game.  She didn't wanna be alone, so I went with her.  I think we won 6-3. I can't remember who it was against. Gutted but lesson learnt.

Wimbledon? Micky Boulding and Alan Pouton hat tricks. Certainly the only Town 6-3 I can remember, there may have been more.

I can remember us beating Cardiff 6-3 at home too. 84/85 season. It was the last time we played Cardiff I think.

My Mate is a Halifax fan and we wind each other up. We were due to go to the home game that season but I had a bit of a cold and just didn't fancy the 3 hour round trip so we binned it off.

He just switched his phone off when we won 7-0 , Id have love to have had that 90 minutes followed by the hour and half ripping it out of him.

From what I understand from talking to the ladies in the shop after this happened and was posted on here, the Club did formally complain to the EFL about COMSEC! And tell COMSEC that they was not welcome.

Issues with COMSEC were common at lots of grounds last season where the Club had no say over how they behave or single out supporters whom are apparently illegally data scouting! Looking into this it’s all about the EFL and COMSEC trying to protect the betting markets for their sponsors by banning all rival organisations, by saying that this is a licensed activity, where the EFL is the licensing body!!

The way the retro shirt market has gone recently my only regret is not buying up loads of shirts in the end of season sale over the last 40yrs and storing them away to sell now.

Everything else that happens is just the life of a football fan so no regrets, the highs replace lows and the lows replace highs.

I’d say travelling to Dagenham to see us get walloped, or that horrific 5-0 at Braintree.

Stupidly took an ex to the spurs home game, essentially ignored her all game as she was sat behind me, when we scored I whacked her, purely accidentally as she didn’t jump up, unlike the rest of us.

Then the pitch invasion...very frosty drive back to uni (Lincoln) and then apparently going on the lash wasn’t the right thing either...wish I’d never arsed myself to take her now.

Mine was having 50p text alerts when we got battered at Hartlepool.

I also had Danny Boshell as first goal scorer in the final against the Franchise. £10 at 25/1, I'll never forgive him for missing that penalty

Cardiff away 1976.
Went on a 50cc, 30mph sit up and beg moped.
Set off at midnight on the Friday and got to Ninian Park at twenty to three.
Town lost 2-0, brought it back on the train, slept for the best part of two days and couldn't sit right for a week.

My favourite so far.

I was working behind the bar at Millfields that night. A bloke kept coming to the bar and telling me Hartlepool had just scored. Obviously after the third or fourth time I assumed he was just winding me up.

I had either a fiver or tenner on Omar Bogle to score three or more, was around 25/1 if I recall right, at home to Barnet in 2016.  Marcus Bignot's first game in charge too I think.  Felt pretty confident when he had 2 to his name before half-time, frustrated most of the second half and then he got an injury time penalty....

I also had Danny Boshell as first goal scorer in the final against the Franchise. £10 at 25/1, I'll never forgive him for missing that penalty

I've never been more sure that a player was going to miss a penalty as I was right then.

My biggeat regret following Town is seeing every one of the five defeats at Wembley and Cardiff and none of the 3 Wembley wins.

The 5-0 braintree defeat for me 16th birthday. Or judging the signing of Jon Nolan before he’d kicked a ball for us. How wrong i was

Wearing my Town shirt in Menorca the morning after Hartlepool put 8 past us

I did the same not far away in Majorca down the Magaluf strip. Why did we do that?

Going to see Town lose against Cheltenham in Cardiff - I had decided to not go Provence in a villa with my new wife and friends for a week....because I didn't want to miss the promotion party.

Also, not even realising we were playing Liverpool away when we won - I turned on the radio just as Jevons scored.  Doh!

No regrets from me, so many memories, during my time following town, some good, some bad, would not have it any other way.

Sorry to hear that.

There's no excuse for violence only as a last resort and only if the means justify the ends.

Hope them numptys get their comeuppance one day.

I can remember us beating Cardiff 6-3 at home too. 84/85 season. It was the last time we played Cardiff I think.

Didn’t we lose to them away in the FA Cup a couple of seasons ago?

Did we?

If we did then that game must have been completely erased from my memory!

Probably wasting time and money going to the FA Trophy against Halifax on the back of promotion euphoria. Watched a team go through the motions after gaining promotion for PH and having no desire to do anything else for the club or fans.

A close second would be attending Tommy Forecast's home debut against Crewe and third convincing my family to go watch town on a cold boxing day to see them get hammered. My younger cousins  never had anything to do with GTFC again.

We got drawn away to them a few years ago when Slade was in charge of them, but we lost to Shrewsbury in a replay

Wimbledon? Micky Boulding and Alan Pouton hat tricks. Certainly the only Town 6-3 I can remember, there may have been more.

Yeah.  I thought that but when I checked head to head it wasn't there Cheers

Strangely we enjoyed it, the pressure was off. Had a couple of beers in The Torch (party atmosphere) with the Town fans and then went in early to watch underdogs Morpeth beat Hereford in the FA Vase.
The FA put a load of things on, had my photo taken with the FA Cup for free.
Even the coach braking down on the way back just outside Leicester didn't spoil the day, we'd won the big one a week earlier

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

I enjoyed the Trophy final...I mean, I guess that’s what happens after a team have been on the lash for a week.

I don’t think a single town fan there was truly arsed. We just had a party at Wembley, especially after the tension of the previous week, and euphoria.

Burton was arguably a mistake but it was one of those odd situations, we were always gonna go down and deserved to but I felt compelled to be at the game where it would happen. intercourse knows why. To this day I’ve never watched it back...I always said I would once we returned to the league but I haven’t.

I don’t fully regret it but it was flipping horrible that day...

I thought the trophy final was excrement for its atmosphere tbh. I expected a big party atmosphere but just didnt seen to happen. But ah well, we did the one we wanted week earlier

Encouraging my Exile children to follow Town and start going to games just as wheels were coming off at the end of Lawrences management. So much dross they have suffered and so little success.

Listening to the old man and despite being a exile starting following Town just as the wheels were coming off at the end of the Lawrences management. SO much dross I have suffered and so little success

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

I once said Gazza's IQ was less than his shirt number and he asked me: What's an IQ? - George Best

Of course, the whole point of supporting Town ( and I am sure the same opinion of supporters of almost all football clubs in the UK outside the big clubs) is that it is about the misery and faint glimmer of hope that keeps us going.
