Early next week the National League are debating how to finish the season for their 3 divisions. (BBC Sport article).

A proposal of PPG is on the table. There does not appear to be other proposals doing the rounds for comment.  This would mean that Barrow would be promoted to the FL. Harrogate would lose out going up automatically).

There would also be play-offs between 6 teams for the second promotion spot. (As long as they can afford to do so, however, the reward of a FL place is compelling).

The proposal is very favourable to the National League and expected to be approved.   The voting is very heavily-weighted in the National League's favour, with the lower 2 divisions only having 4 votes each.   Only 51% of the votes are needed for overall approval of the porposal(s).

Besides Barrow, we could have "local" derbies next season against ONE of "Notts County, Harrogate, Stockport or Halifax".

If things work out against us, we could instead be going to Yeovil or Boreham Wood.

In National North and National South the proposal is for only the top team in each division to be promoted.  There would be no play-offs in National North or South.

This means that York (currently top) would therefore remain in National North.  Kings Lynn would be promoted automatically as champions as they have 2 games in hand but are only 2 points behind York.  The York sports paper reluctantly accepted that the proposal on the table is logical and likey to be approved, despite being a very bitter pill to swallow. Strangely, many York fans accept that this season they have been very lucky in games and Kings Lynn have played better football.

York at least do have a new stadium to move to - whenever they can get a large crowd in test the safety issues.

Surprisingly, there would be no relegation from National North or South.

Does that mean York move into their shoebox without a 'proper' final game at Bootham Crescent? Huge shame for them if so.

..........should have added that it must be only the bottom 2 teams in the National League that should be relegated (not 4 teams).  Fylde and Chorley.  Only 2 teams coming up.

This is another strong reason for the proposal being approved.  The likely outcome being another "local" derby for us next season.

Chorley the only team relegated in the whole of non-league! If the clubs vote against it then the national league could be declared void and Stevenage/Macc get a reprieve?

It's only the bottom 1 that would go down as our division is only giving them 1.

24 clubs now
2 go up (Barrow + PO winner)
1 comes down
2 come up (Wealdstone/Kings Lynn from NLS/NLN)
∴ only 1 team needs to go down, i.e. Chorley

Harrogate is 5 minutes for me but it would be lovely to see Stockport back in the football league. Notts County can have another season of it then join them.

Whilst we are usually well supported at the clubs you mentioned I wouldn't have called them "local derbies"
