This bit of our chairman's speech puzzles me

'The only proviso on relegation is that there must be a National League for the relegated team to play in. If there is not there will be no relegation'

Is there a question mark over whether there will be a National League next season for some reason?

It’s because there is an agreement in place that, should the new EFL season commence with no crowds, clubs can stream all games on PPV at 3pm on a Saturday until the situation changes to ensure there is some form of income stream. Unfortunately non-league has no such agreement, so no crowds = no football for them.

Surely with the attendances at the majority of  non-league clubs, there would be no problems with social distancing.

If anything I would have thought they would be back playing sooner than league clubs

I see Stevenage proposed for no relegation from League 2 ?   ... .......

Wonder what Lincoln were upto as well with their points deducted proposal that was also rejected ?

On the season ticket refunds it states...

"To save the cost of writing to each ticket holder we will in the next few days be putting a portal on the website on which you can either request a refund or make the donation by saying that you do not require one."

So what happens to those that haven't got or don't do tinternet ?

Lincoln's CEO was on Radio 5 trying to explain their proposal at the weekend.  Could be that I was only half listening but it seemed to over complicating the matter for the sake of it.

If you were one of the clubs relegated or missing out on promotion with almost a quarter of the games not played, you would be gutted.  But this isn't normality and a decision was needed, a sensible one which I think we've largely got.

However the season was going to end, there's always at least one team that would feel hard done by.  I can't say it's not without a wry smile that it's Peterborough's chairman who feels he's the one (not his club) worst done of all...

Maybe, but it's only a fraction of what we'd normally get, so I don't see how it's a truly viable option unless contracts are renegotiated. We probably bring in something like £12 per person, per game from gate receipts after concessions and season tickets are accounted for. Lots of these will be two or more people coming from the same household to watch a game, but they'll watch the game between them for £10 and not even all of that comes to the club. Plus people will have groups get together to watch the game, some people have IPTV etc and the club get nothing.

Not to mention match sponsorship, programmes, club shop, food etc that are lost.

Absolutely, it's definitely not a complete answer to the problem, but at least we're not talking about ZERO income at the minute.  It still needs increasing though, of course.

I think it's worse having to play with less income and greater costs. The amount of testing that all sports are having to do at training and matches costs thousands every day, that is probably more than paying for all the stewards and ticketing staff etc for every game, but less money. I'm sure there are other expensive caveats that will be put in place to allow the sport to continue.

I can't see how we get back to playing without fans in attendance. At least not whilst furlough is still an option.

Skint football club run by people with limited ambitions and no experience of developing a major construction project are not focussing on relocation during a major economic slowdown shocker !!

The club will write to those that don't reply. There's also an option to telephone the club with your option.

We would have had a new ground if the residents of Great Coates hadn't played up fook for so long, rightly in their own minds i am sure, but between them and the NELC and party politics so much time (and money) was lost chasing it.  I am also of the opinion that the decision to pursue that site beyond the first year or so of dispute was a poor one, the economic/retail picture had already changed and chasing permission for the site was just throwing valuable time and effort away.
By the time permission was granted it was way too late.        Am i sad about that ? Not really, Not an ideal site in reality with limited transport, ameneties in that area and general access.
The now farcical second round of site selection was also ridiculous, although on the positive front NELC now seemed to be on board they went hand in hand with the club in disqualifying every other potential site in the town and chose an all round unviable option. Pie in the sky..or poppycock (if you like) , predictions, timescales and visions for a greenfield site in cahoots with an unproven developer.

Freeman St now becomes the choice of club and council , despite previously being discounted as unsuitable but what noises have we had from the club since they have pinned their hopes on this one ?  "Four stands as thats the most economic" ... "now bottom of our priorities"...but dont worry ....."we wont be starting quite from scratch as we have been discussing with the council".

All the above leaves me holding no hope that it will ever happen until we have new owners/new money.

There are alternative options to what is currently in place for matches being played. Has anyone even tried looking at how League 2 could operate without this extensive testing regime? It seems like we have the blinkers on and not even trying to look at how League 2 could resume. Players are at this level for a reason and need to keep playing, to not have them playing could mean the end for a lot of players and some clubs.

I’m not suggesting that League 2 should start again where the risk of COVID-19 spreading is substantial however the R number is dropping with every passing day and I do feel that simple procedures and policies could be put in place for football to resume. We have had mass protests where social distancing has not been observed yet we have not seen a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases, this might show that the transmission rate is lower in the open air and is this not exactly what stadiums are??

The furlough scheme ends at the end of October so where do we go from there? Surely we need to plan for starting again unless the UK sees a second spike and try to get back to some sort of normality? It looks like the social distance rule of 2 metres is going to be reduce to 1 metre so getting supporters back into stadiums is now starting to look a little bit more feasible. BP holds around 9,000 so with 1 metre distancing set to be introduced, BP can more than accommodate our average gate.

The Premier League, EFL and FA need to look at the testing regime and realise that it’s not financially possible for League 1 & 2 to resume under these conditions, however League 1 & 2 clubs could help themselves by putting forward a viable proposal for starting up again whilst taking all possible steps to ensure safety for all. Simply accepting that we can not operate with testing costs and keeping the doors to the club shut is not the answer, so please Fenty et all put a solution together and put it to the governing bodies and like all other businesses get the nation moving forward again. To stay stagnant and do nothing will eventually kill everything that is good about the UK off!

That's good news in my eyes about the new stadium being on the back burners. Even before the crisis Philip Day was talking about a bog standard new ground as cheap as possible.

The current regime should not be in charge of such an important project. It is too big for them and they don't have the ambition or flair (or money) to make it work.

Better to get as many people in BP and get some success on the pitch and make us more attractive to investors in the future.

I do agree but to be fair I don’t think the the NEL Council have exactly been supportive. No stadium will ever be built without their approval and maybe with Mr Fenty now involved with the council, things might change. Obviously the pandemic doesn’t help but time will tell. #UTM

Don't get too annoyed, York's 8500 seater Community Stadium has so far taken the council 12 years to build and it's still not ready.

With hindsight,, in the mid 90s, I'd have accepted an "annoying" twelve year wait to see a new GTFC stadium.

Delay at York as it stands is only Covid preventing practical testing for safety certificates etc..
