I think the significance is that this is a non returnable cut not a deferral. A big ask when the two key figures at the club are millionaires, one a multi millionaire.

I think this is a very mean suggestion. The players are already taking a a pay cut whilst on furlough. If they do agree to it then it should be treated as a loan and payed back during the season instead of lump sums paid off benign loans.

I thought most staff were on furlough therefore their wages are not costing the club anything at the moment.

Staff are furloughed but I don't think the players are. I think it's because there is a cap on the amount that you can get, £2,500 a month. Our players would be significantly worse off if they were furloughed.

As I have said before, the FA have creamed off vast sums of money from transfers, gate receipts etc etc. They are sat on a fortune and could help struggling clubs but they don't seem the think it's down to them. It's everyone elses problem. They haven't rumbled that if 50 clubs go to the wall then their gravy train will be reduced.

I personally think the FA could do more to help clubs in these unprecedented times but so far they have done sweet FA to help financially.

They aren't taking a pay cut. Football contracts on furlough must still be topped up to their original value by the club. A player on 1500 a week on furlough means 600 a week is paid by the govt and the remaining 900 a week must be paid by the club.

Football contracts must be paid in full regardless of furlough. Our non playing staff could be furloughed without cost to the club.

That's still a significant saving in wages.

I don't doubt that they and the Prem would look on league 2 and below clubs going bust as a good thing. They think that all those football fans with no one to watch will just switch to following a Prem team
