It won't really cheer anyone up but if anyone has highlights of THAT Tommy Forecast game against Crewe I'd like to see it. Just as a kind of "how the hell was this person ever given a senior contract at any club and how the hell did we think bringing him here was a good idea." sort of thing.

I feel like the footage was burned and buried because I was never able to find it even on the official website.

Not exactly vintage years stuff, but this was my favourite (regular season) non league game:

His Wikipedia page is just a downward spiral of a story. "Forecast made his full professional debut the following day for Grimsby against Crewe Alexandra in a 4–0 defeat, The Crewe Chronicle described Forecast's debut as "one of the most shockingly inept displays the Football League has ever seen".

We seemed fated to win at Braintree:

The game was played at the end of a long season and only a few days after the first-leg (this favoured us as a full-time pro club).

It was a very hot day (this favoured our supposedly better fitness).

We had a large following of fans who passionately believed that we would win.

We thought that would would win the final if we overcame a semi-final home defeat.  (Mental toughness).

We were awarded a penalty that some referees would not have given (or even seen the offence).

We scored from the pen, even though it was not well-taken.

They had a man sent off.  Thus increasing their tiredness.

Our second goal came from the keeper getting there a fraction too late. 😁

I’ve searched for this a few times, but have never been able to find anything. It’s almost as if we are aren’t allowed to watch it again, it was truly that bad. Colgan was terrible in that relegation season, but Forecast was on a whole new level.

I seem to remember that Forecast was somehow lobbed for one of the goals when he was only about a yard off the line. That's some going when you're 6'4".

I recall Kevin (I'd love it of we beat them) Keegan not exactly losing gracefully.....

The way I remember it in my head is pretty funny because he just stands there staring into space as the ball goes in then puts his hands up over his head. I think the goal scorer was in the 6 yard box and somehow lobbed a guy that tall. Maybe my memories exaggerate it but I'm sure that's what happened.

The Town fans were very restrained in celebrating the winning goal and at the end of the match.  I would have expected more reaction.  😄😄😏
