Thought I'd pop this one up just in case anyone gets any news on the potential trialists for the friendly. Would love to go but I'll be at work.

Seen a fair few trialists at ressies. Some of them so poor I think I could have done better.

Not always the case though. Akpa Akpro was so good in his trial, we immediately signed him as there were other clubs sniffing around . Never really lived up to billing  after that.

He definately had something about him, somehow went on to play 4 seasons in league one after us, for me he was memorably bizarre like a talented alien who'd never actually watched a game of football, shame he was playing in a team of drunken idiots mightve hit greater heights in a better team

No work on for me this week so I’m going to come down and have a watch of my first reserves match. Are you allowed to wear man-made fibres in the Main Stand or does it breach the fire certificate?

How things have changed. W hen i was young in the early 60`s i used to go with my grannie and grandad.. now we only lived on Harrington st by the pontoon , and my grandad used to take a carrier bag with two flasks, crisps , biscuits and sweets to every game when he gave up going to sea. and i dont remember anyone saying anything about it

Still get people in shell suits full stop like wtf

The Main Stand is a strange place though, like a ghoulish time warp, I hate the negative foghorn or two in there constantly giving pelters to our player's and management even when we're not that bad.

If it was the same game I was at then our reserves lost five or six nil. From what I remember the only big names playing were Craig Johnson and Barry Vennison with that feathery mullet. It was a big crowd, even a few Liverpool fans in the Osmond, whether they were hardcore supporters who followed the reserves or just locals who supported Liverpool, I don't know. It was probably my first visit to Blundell Park.

Remember Going to a reserve match with my dad and we had a central midfielder trialist called Johnny Walker and thought he was decent. Of course we never offered him a deal and he went on to play in Scotland at a quite high level (be it in Scotland).

Hoping if there are trialists tomorrow we can expect former or current fringe players from championship level upwards

I remember the youth team playing a cup game against Arsenal in the early noughties. There must have been a couple of thousand there; Arsenal had a young kid playing for them who was tipped to be a world superstar and the future of English football.

It was Jermaine Pennant.

Seem to remember John Walk ran the show that night for Liverpool..
Another reserve game went to watch Bolton playing here because Peter Beardsley was playing for them towards the end of his career.. he looked like he couldn't be arsed with it all

Yeah Fumaca went on to play for Palace (for free when they were skint) and I'm pretty sure he went to Newcastle in the premier league

Yep, Jose Antunes - AKA Fumaca. Was on trial alongside Nigerian goalkeeper Ademola Bankole who went on to play for Crewe.

I think Buckley tried to sign Fumaca, who went on to play the odd game for Palace and Newcastle, but he wanted too much money. Wouldn’t have been your typical Buckley signing, in fact I’m struggling to think of many foreign players he signed across all of his three stints.

Paul Walsh played as well. He was a regular for the first team at the time and coming back from injury, as was Johnston.

Who was that lookalike we had on trial here pre season, roughly about 3 or 4 years ago with the big hair?

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”

Remember us playing Everton in the reserves and getting Southall, Van Der Hauwe and someone else I can't remember to sign the teamsheet for my lad. We beat them to keep up our excellent record against them in the late 70s / 1980s.

No attempt at ethical or social seduction can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred of the Tory party. So far as I'm concerned they're lower than vermin. Aneurin Bevan.

Player (striker) being interviewed today, nickname Kink or kinky, clearly not Kinkladze or Kinsella both mid 40’s. Any ideas?

No, you’re thinking of Tony Crane.

So it’s not Prince Andrew then  😨  !!

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

On RH on Saturday Matt Dean or JT (can’t remember which) said we’d asked about Akinde and the price was too high.

According to the Echo Salford are favourites to sign him but as Lincoln are short of strikers need players in before letting any leave. Bit worried they may try and poach Cardwell 😄😄
