Last win was in 1897. Anyone remember that one? GrimsbyPete maybe?

Does not fill one with optimism I wonder if we have a worse record away from home over 30 games or more against anyone else.

That record really is horrific... For those old enough to remember did Mr Buckley ever contribute any goals to those defeats?

I swear that was the original unaltered title. Should have gone to specsavers

Not that 2 wins in 32 total League and cup games makes too much difference in terms of just how bad our record at Walsall is!

2007, lost 2-0, although we did play them in the JPT in our first season back in the league in 2016 and lost 5-2.

I think I went to that one, too.

I don't recall us playing that badly, but they just scored too many easy goals. Was that back in the Buckley Mk. II era?

I also remember seeing us get stuffed at Watford by a similar scoreline with a similar performance.

My first match there this Saturday - i'm feeling fairly confident and don't pay too much attention to stats.
We look a different kettle of fish this season - a good noisy following should do the trick.  UTM

There should be 600-700 minimum you’d imagine given the relative “feel good factor”.

I saw us lose at the old ground 3-2 think it was a boxing day game in the 80s and Scott Mcgarvey scored a screamer for Town.

I know I recall it being a very sparse Town away following of around 150 in quite a large crowd I think Walsall were near the top of the league at the time? We were attacked afterwards going back to the coaches and the WM Police happily let things develop til the Town fans retaliated so I nearly never saw any more of Mcgarvey

When you look at the stats we do have a better chance at Chelsea than Walsall.

BUT

We will win at Walsall and hope Lampard plays his youth team.

What worries more than that stat is the fact their manager is Darrell Clarke and he's had the hoodoo over us for a good while, firstly with Salisbury, who knocked us out of the FA Trophy and then with Bristol Rovers. They've had a excrement start to the season, but I've always rated him as a manager.

Given that Chelsea have a Premier League game 3 days before and after and they have UEFA Champions League fixtures the midweeks either side of the game, I think they will play a weakened team against either us or Macclesfield. So the winner of our rematch will only have to face players like Alonso, Willian & Giroud.

Oh and we need to beat Walsall. We owe Darryl Clarke a beating after the 2015 Promotion Final.

Correct! Just had a look at our H2H record — we've played them 31 times at their place and never won (28 in the league, twice in the FA Cup, once in the League Cup).

Lost 22, drawn 9.

That’s about the only list that Ross Joyce is on alongside Diego Maradona.

Apart from both having feminine sounding surnames.

Thoroughly deserved win. But I guess that means we won’t win there again untill 2141

We won't play them again until then.

We're heading UP, they're heading DOWN!

2007, lost 2-0, although we did play them in the JPT in our first season back in the league in 2016 and lost 5-2.

How time flies.remember that day out clearer than many other away days since. Was really looking forward to the beer keller Saddlers club that I remember ,with  a balti pie n nice pint of draught Banks's gutted to find the place closed n derelict

Shhh! Whisper it quietly the man said.

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
