Just read an article and one of the stats in it was that 62% of tackles in the premier result in a free kick. Is it that premier players are not taught how to tackle, one of the players involved always falls over as fouled or the refs have been instructed to clamp down on any physical contact. I would not have thought the figure is quite a high in our league but I would bet its close to 50%.

So are the refs that easily fooled by " cheating" players?

Don't worry.
Tackling will be totally banned in a few years going the same way as: the shoulder charge, keepers having to bounce the ball, picking up back passes, having to play the ball forward at the kick off, intentionally handling the ball to concede a penalty, proper offside, the ball thrown from behind the head at a throw in, taking throw ins and free kicks from where the ball actually went out or from where the foul was actually committed, penalties being retaken when players encroach shock horror when a player 'has his name taken' (as it was such a rare occurance)
and everything else that once made up our favourite game

Most dispossessions are through interceptions, to be honest a 50%ish figure seems natural.

Spot on Swin, how can the game have become so soft to the point where players are allowed to standstill with the ball for 30 secs and no one can tackle them, games being played at walking pace.also stopping dead when running with the ball so the player behind cant quite stop before contact followed by the proverbial falling down when he feels that little touch on his back, (Ring is an expert at this)

Those 2 really irk me. The amount of foul throws you see that go unpunished now is stupid. Also, the amount of times you see a referee wave a player back to take a throw-in, then they run down the line to where, or even further than they were origianly before throwing it. These offences should be punished by a throw to the opponents but you very, very rarely see that happen nowadays.
