More info on his loan at Wycombe...
Quoted from Wycombe Wanderers Official Website | 3rd November 2014
Nicky Walker has returned to Rotherham United following the expiration of his loan spell.

The winger arrived at Adams Park in the summer with Millers team-mate Danny Rowe and played 45 minutes of the pre-season friendly with Barnet.

However, despite being a regular in the matchday squad, he was unable to break into the starting line-up during his time with the club.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: "Nicky's a great lad and it's been a pleasure to work with him. We wish him every success and look forward to watching how his career progresses."

Walker tweeted: "Would just like to thank everyone at Wycombe for the past 3 months! Although I'm disappointed not to get the game time, it's been a great experience and I wish them the best of luck for the season (hopefully promotion).

"A really great club throughout and are definitely heading in the right direction. They're a great group of lads and I know I have left with my head held high giving it everything I had."

Had to have a good laugh here ;D

OT: He must have something for PH to pick him up, but what that is we will only have to wait and see...

Have we ever had a loanee in, who failed to get a game in 3 months!

Bad management there methinks

Just checked and Wycombe are top of league two and he made the match day squad majoirty of times, so maybe he just didn't have enough quality to break into the team, but hopefully might help us out at a lower level....

or

he could just be total excrement but we shall wait and see..

Is this anything to do with the sickness bug because with Clay and paddy not in the team i can't see why we need a midfielder?

Maybe neilson, makreth or Arnold out then if he's a winger

Ashley Chambers (about 3 hours in 4 months) is the closest I can think of!

Thanks, Just read that now. A bit of extra width which will hopefully focus the minds of some of the others?

If he's a winger then I can see the logic as is if Neilson or Arnold go down injured we are a bit short there but if he's a central midfielder we've got Disley, Brown, Parslow, Clay and Paddy and I think that's more than enough.

Winger Walker, 19, has made three substitute appearances for the Millers.
"Nicky is an exciting attacking player with electric pace," said Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth.
"He's got a goal in him as well and I know he's looking forward to getting stuck in at League level.

Ready to get a semi... (Confused)
Quoted from Wycombe Wanderers - Player Profile
Exciting attacker Walker followed team-mate Danny Rowe to Adams Park on loan from Rotherham United in the summer, having previously attracted the attention of top-flight scouts during his time in the Millers’ youth team, where he once scored 20 goals in pre-season alone.

I sometimes wish we had and the loanees never played. Think we've had some goalkeepers in just to cover.

7 appearances, 0 goals, in the last three seasons (all in 2012-13) , has been sent out on loan spells with Barrow and Wycombe in that time.......not what i would call a hair raising record.

Honestly, you sometimes wonder why ANYONE would want to manage or play for Town, given the way some fans are not just judgmental, but even pre-judgmental.

I get it that many posters believe they have greater football intelligence than the manager who has put us in 2nd place, but why be snide about a player who hasn't even stepped on the pitch for us yet?

Hamish and now Walker ........... Could it be that we are preparing for next season already ? We will have a reduced budget again next year are we looking at getting some rough diamonds to fill the gaps ? oh assuming we don't go up that is .................

Can YOU call Walker outstanding ?

Because that is what Hurst said the other day,

Quote -" There will be nobody coming in unless an outstanding player becomes available."

Not till I have seen him play no. But I can't say he is not outstanding either.

Good luck to Nicky i hope he does well, but my daughters goldfish could turn out a better job than Hurst.  Goldfish bowl formation anyone?  (a variation of the Christmas pudding)

I hope he turns out to be outstanding but he does not have that wow factor yet,

I was not knocking the lad just quoting Hurst.

He will have my full support the same as the rest of the lads,

I have a very good feeling about Hamish maybe we have got 2 future gems,

Unless Rotherham want him back of course.

If he is just cover then fair enough.
There's no pre-judgement on here. That is an unfair criticism of fellow posters. There has been reference to the manager's own official words and to how that fits with the player's actual playing record. Both of these are definite facts not the opinion of posters. Supporters just have to accept the manager's word for it that this signing is outstanding until they see him play.

Interview with the lad on Mariner Player now but couldn't listen to more than the first minute or so cos of the bloody racket in the background!

Surely they can find somewhere quiet to interview new signings.

Probably cheap as chips and another body in the building so worth a look for a month or two. If he's up to anything at all, I suppose we could get him on a loan for the rest of the season as well?

This. And they never flipping learn. They never learn when they write-off Clay before he's played a game as a completely ridiculous signing. Who's saying that now?

They never learn when they give John-Lewis some flipping awful reviews after every game, some stepping into open abuse... how many has he scored so far?

And they'll same the same banal excrement every time anyone is signed who isn't Ronaldo or Messi, and they'll think they know better than a manager who's doing pretty well for us.

In short, I agree... intercourse knows why anyone would want to work for this club sometimes...

Yeah that's true I suppose. I just don't see any more 'next season' logic in their signing than there was in the signing of Luke McCarthy or Dougie Wilson.

I agree with the first part to some extent, but be honest he aint like hurst said, exceptional from his stats....and to be fair to anyone with half a brain, with the players he has at his disposal, ronald mcdonald could get us to 2nd place.. IMO hurst is the worst manager with the best players, at this level i have seen in 50 yrs at blundell park

He also sought out and signed a lot of those players, so surely as a manager he should get some credit? Seems quite hard to say we've got good players and not give the manager who signed them any credit at all... surely that we have a squad of "best players" is down to his influence, thus making him, at the very least, a decent manager in that aspect?

Btw - Welcome to Grimsby, Nicky W - hope you do well for us

That only makes him a good scout.

A good manager is one who gets the best out the resources at his disposal, whether he signed them or not.

Some think PH is good at that, some don't. Next April is the time to judge.

If that bug that Aswad has got is spreading ideal to get someond in . Didn't Doig say others weren't well . Free Saturday coming up plus we haven't or don't appear to have any link with league clubs to jointly assist bringing on players . Easy access up the 180 , so I have no problem if he gets a game or two and can cross the ball and take a decent corner kick .

Could be a useful signing what with the FA Trophy coming up. Would like us to utilise the likes of Walker.N, Walker.P,  Winfarrah, Watson, Draper, Bignot, McLaughlin etc... to save the first team for our No.1 priority... The League.

I don't think anybody has called the player,

He is 20 and not started a league game yet,

I do not think that is calling the lad,

The statement Hurst made is what posters are referring to,

There will be nobody coming in unless an OUTSTANDING player becomes available.

It would be very unfair on the lad to say he is an outstanding player,

What would the fans in the crowd who boo think if he does not deliver.?
