Like that, with something on the bench too.

know we’ve not seen to much of him as a footballer yet but what a massive effort by Callum Ainley must have been a tough few months for the kid, hope he gets in👏👏👏

Green concussed from Cartwrights punch…
Clifton must be injured.

Understand why it’s difficult to get Vernam into this formation but made an immediate difference on Friday.

Not been a fan of Clifton this season tbh. Midfield in general not been great but Clifton has been very wasteful.
Been a fan in previous seasons but definitely not his best by far.

Clifton isn't capable of playing in central midfield. Does a decent job on either wing due to his work rate and persistence and is reasonable as cover in wide defensive areas. We're not playing with wingers, though, and he's not been at all effective for most of the season.

Up to Smith to impose himself today and show he's worth a place ahead of a stopgap.

Cartwright has looked a better keeper since the change in defensive formation. Let’s hope it has the same effect on Eastwood - big chance for him today, let’s hope he grabs it.

Hume is stinking the place out at the moment

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Looks like he's tried to play through a hamstring/lower back injury and hasn't been able to

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

JT suggested a hamstring injury - no other player  involved, so does sound like a muscular injury or some sort of pull.

Really do like the way that obikwu is settling into the side. Player  that I’d love to see playing for us again next season

Got to ask, why do our players seem knackered? Or is it just a lack of pace

Holohan and Hume need to pull their fingers out, they've both been poor in that first half. Serviceable stuff from the rest of them and at least we've not gifted any goals yet today.

So far so good, not brilliant by any means but we're holding our own. We do need to finish when the ball goes into their box. Ref's having a stinker with some unusual decisions .

The game is there to be won and Bradford are not particularly good in any department.

Funnily, I was just thinking how ineffective Obikwu has been! He's got no idea how to use his body and jumps about a foot shorter than his normal height whenever he's trying to win a header. I don't really understand how these young academy lads aren't taught how to put themselves around a bit.

One or two encouraging occasions for us without actually creating a huge amount but the number of free-kicks they are giving away about 40 to 50 yards from their goal is just ridiculous. The referee will surely have to start booking someone soon.

Just a pity that we're no threat from set pieces. One good delivery in five seems about the best ratio we can manage.

Smith has done quite well on his return to the team. Curtis Thompson is the only player in the centre of the park who understands the game. We haven't really been troubled apart from when Hume decided to try and turn on the edge of his box. Bradford are dire but we're simply incapable of putting a dangerous delivery in and I don't see how we're going to score without changing shape and opening the game up.

The better side . No clear cut chance but 4 or 5 opportunities to give the ball a crack from around the edge of the area and only 1 struck with any discernible technique, the blocked shot from Andrews. Bradford done intercourse all, yet us fannying about around the edge of our own box once again, presents them with the best chance of the half, and their striker should've done better. I think Vernam would have these lot worried

Bradford look dreadful seemingly not helped by having so many players out and nothing to play for etc.

Still think this is our best chance to get 3 points of all the remaining games. Can't remember so many balls going into one penalty area with zero chances created - can't get near a second ball for sure.
.
Vernam for Hume looks inevitable sooner rather than later...I hope.

We don't need both Andrews and Holohan on the pitch. Replace one of them with Vernam or Eisa and go at them. This is clearly winnable and the 3 points would be massive, but we are really lacking any sort of creativity.

Getting anything out of this game is a must. We’re missing that pace
that every other team seems to have and uses well against us.

Always been a fan of Holohan but he looks lost today.
The game just seems to be bypassing any ounce of creativity by town

Doing a lot of the right things, at some point we’ll need to get Chas involved.

Andrew’s & Thompson doing ok in midfield but we have number 10 presence.

I can see Sutton & Colchester getting something from those fixtures TBH.

Easily the better side. Bradford are awful all we're missing (like most of the season) is that final ball. I expect Bradford to get the hair dryer treatment at half time and to come and out and give us more of a game but hopefully we stay on top

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Can't remember so many balls going into one penalty area with zero chances created - can't get near a second ball for sure.

First half stats on headed clearances were - Grimsby 0 Bradford 14. That's how ineffective we've been at winning a second ball ffs!

This feels like a re-run of so many games this season, poor quality opposition who are there for the taking and Town's inability to take advantage.

Our final ball and set piece deliveries are awful, no creativity, aimless long balls into the opposition box, god knows where we are going to get a goal from ?

On a plus note, Thompson has played very well.

Something needs to change because we all know what happens next, Bradford will get ONE chance and its 0-1 !

Much better second half needed.

Simple ain't it.  Put that ball in there.  Just on the six yard box.  Despite not being a town player near him, the defender screwed up.  Good strike by Thompson

Story of the season, team of bottlers who haven't been able to hold on to a lead. So many points chucked away from leading positions in games where we've had most of the possession. It'll be entirely up to the other teams if we survive because our squad has shown they've no bottle.

That's a load of sh1te.  Town showed some bite. Andrews had a good game.  Hume not so much. Plus point was  that Eastwood must have done his confidence some good.  Decent handling and I can't remember that he could kick so far.

We was robbed by a ref, again

How were we robbed? We've not cleared the ball properly, let them load it in again to the back stick and Hume dragged their player over before he could stick it in the net. It's a clear penalty and red card.

We weren't robbed. We had every opportunity to win that game and the fact we didn't is down to ourselves. The result has convinced me we'll go down.

Once again talking out your @rse, a lot of those lads really put a shift in today.

Putting in a shift is the minimum to expect, but they've thrown away another lead and barely troubled their keeper except for one excellent strike from Thompson. Give it a rest.

No. We failed because we are incapable of scoring more than one goal a game, and don't have what it takes to beat a crap side when our survival depends on it.

Our only hope now is that Sutton implode, because we don't seem capable of staying up on merit.

We are at home with the lead in front of a packed blundell park in a must win game against a team with nothing to play for with minutes to go......and we gift them a penalty and throw away 2 points. I just can't see the likes of Sutton, Colchester and Forest Green doing that if they were in that position. Very very squeaky but time now because I think Sutton will win today and they will all be lifted by our result

ONE shot on target...AGAIN...at home...against a very poor team.

Can't fault the effort but how have we not managed more than one shot on target? Makes it unbelievably hard to win games of football.

This is exactly it. Graham Alexander used all his subs and went for it. Artell has shat his pants and failed to get some fresh legs on in midfield when they were all out on their feet.

Just said on sky we’ve lost 34 points from winning positions this season - we’d be joint top if we’d kept them all. An insane number and one I don’t think we can blame solely on crap refs (though I agree we’ve had more than our fair share)

If that was a penalty we should've had one about 10 minutes earlier, Rose had his shirt just about lifted off his back and was dragged over, it works both flipping ways, excrement ref again 😡

Our inability to score more than one goal and a single moment of urine-poor defending has cost us 3 points today, in what was a dominating performance. Bradford deserved jack excrement today but we've once again gifted a team points

It was a clear Pen and red all day. Hume was wrong side of his man and then mounted him before dragging him to the floor so he couldn't score at the back post, Ref was given no choice.

To be honest calling the players bottle jobs is a cheap shot but I’d prefer never to see Hulme in a Town shirt again, no better than Glennon in reality.

It was an absolute stick on penalty. Hume was wrong side of his man and the foul was his only option.

I can't believe that. Well, I can, but I'm still gutted. We were tiring badly in the last 10 minutes there and they were able to just keep reloading it from wide areas. Bit of bad luck with the deflected cross, Hume gets caught wrong side (he had a poor game) and then seems to drag him (although the replay was a bit unconvincing to me, I'd have to see it again). It feels like 2021 all over again, can't eke out the 3 points we desperately need. Sutton and Colchester are going to catch us.

We dominated them like we did at their place.

Why did Artell only make 1 sub? Absolutely clueless. Hurst did the same at Bradford in 35 degree heat, and it cost us there too.

Those 4 points dropped will be costly.

They've dropped 34 points from winning positions this season FFS. I know loads of this forum have an aversion to data and statistics but you couldn't find more conclusive evidence they're bottlers if you tried.

Exactly. We somehow managed to assemble a dreadful squad of players. Hurst has to take a large share of the blame. Artell has made some better signings but with his tactics, substitution and poor game management has managed to negate any improvement so that the net result is that we are still pretty much useless.

Watching Sutton, they are all over Swindon

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

If FGR are good enough to thrash Crewe away from home then we are in serious, serious trouble. On current form it's only a matter of time before they, and Sutton, and Colchester overtake us. Draws don't cut it. We need to win at least two more games to have any chance at all of staying up.

It is not impossible that we could finish bottom at this rate.
