Could well be right. With interest rates ridiculously high at present (because the BoE is stupidly desperate to drive the country into recession), unless Shutes & Co are self-funding, it will cost them a fortune to borrow the money for construction.

It might be worth sitting on it for a year or two as the BoE will have no option but to cut rates once the recession begins. It just depends how quickly they drop them. Not quickly enough, is my guess.

I honestly don't get it, why would anyone want to build a hotel (or stay in one) in that location with Riby Square and Freemo on its doorstep?

I agree why would anyone want to stay there? If it’s built and it’s a big if how does it change the dynamics of the dock , for me it doesn’t. Without massive investment it will be a swanky hotel in a shithole much more needs to be done

Several articles on it say the hotels target audience will be contractors for that area, and to be fair most of them currently stay at b&b’s in cleethorpes or St. James hotel, this location would be much better.

You're not bothered that the BoE is driving the country into recession? Interesting.

It's not actually politics, incidentally. Just ineptitude by those who are supposed to steer the economy. Both the Tories and Reeves are stupid enough to be cheering it on. They are just about as bad as each other.

Makes me wonder if something else is in the pipeline.

Sadly, irrelevant of culture significant, the whole area needs knocking down and starting again which would cost serious ££££

Wind farm workers are mostly working on rotations, and lots from away. They won't necessarily move here.
It's similar to the hotels around Aberdeen and Norwich, also Humberside to a lesser extent, airports. They are mostly filled with offshore workers, either contractors who day trip to them, or core workers who are put up the night before they mobilise...

Certain "ladies" that work around there will rent rooms for a short stay. The rooms could be rented out a couple of times a day. Worth a fortune to them.
